  • Thanksgiving Wreath

Posted on November 1, 2024 9:48 PM by Julie Comment

November is here and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Today I have a fairly simple card using a fab wooden sign as my background and minimalistic sunflower wreath. This sunflower wreath set and matching dies make it a snap! And I’m really loving this wooden sign and frame die. Let me show you how I made this.

It’s my turn to host the Inspiration Challenge & we’re visiting a wonderful site called Home is Where the Bost Is & her Pinterest Board where I found THIS to use as my inspiration.

After stamping & coloring the oval sunflower wreath & an extra sunflower, I die cut them w/ their matching dies. For the background, I die cut the wooden sign out of Kraft card stock & the backing frame layer out of white. I wanted the wooden background to be a little softer & worn, so I took white ink & rubbed the ink pad directly over the entire area. The white only covered the high points leaving the grain lines the Kraft color. I love the worn, whitewashed look it gave! The greeting was stamped and die cut w/ the smallest tag & the next size tag was die cut out of the Kraft. I placed it under the wooden sign die & ran it through then whitewashed it, as well. This tag set is a real must have..it has 3 sizes of each shape & I picked this shape because it mimicked the shape of the wooden sign background.

I popped up the wreath & sign then added a worn brass brad to “hang” my wreath. A little stickles was added to the sunflower centers. Here are the Copics I used on the wreath:

  • Christmas Pocket Dog

Posted on October 26, 2024 9:33 PM by Julie Comment

It’s about time to get my Christmas cards wrapped up so I made one for a dog lover in my family. This looks nothing like the dog, but it works, anyway. I put the little cutie in a pocket on a shirt and made the shirt out of a Chrismtas paper.

A big congrats to Sybil, the newest Featured Stamper (FS925)! She has a wonderful gallery & I chose THIS card to case. I kept the animal in the pocket but changed mine to a dog in a shirt pocket, made a Christmas theme & used different images, dies & papers.

I die cut a piece of Christmas tree paper to use as my shirt. After die cutting the larger background & pocket out of green and the tie out of red, I used a paw print stencil to add a fun dog element to them. I used the pocket from the Overalls instead of from the shirt because it is a little larger. The little dog was colored & die cut then I snipped off the bottom half of him in order to have the scarf partially out of the pocket. The dog’s lower half was attached back on the inside of the pocket. I added a white frame which I cut out the inside using the next largest plain rectangle.

The pocket was popped up & I added a small paw print from part of one of the greetings from the set. Here are the Copics I used: (not all of them were used on this image, but I colored them all at the same time.)

    Thanks

  • Fall Season

Posted on October 25, 2024 10:28 PM by Julie Comment

Are you having a beautiful fall? The colors are really popping in my area. The beautifully colored leaves inspired my card, along with these lovely dies and new stencil. I wanted it to be the focus so I left most of it uncovered, Come take a look at how I made this.

For the Inspiration Challenge (IC986), we are visiting Personal Creations & their Pinterest Board. I used THIS for my inspiration.

To make my card, I first used a fan leaf stencil, along w/ the yellow, red, orange & green inks. When I was happy with it, I die cut it using the inside only of the wood sign die. I love the texture and added interest. For the leaves, I used a piece of painted background I made a while back, using fabric paints. I didn’t have a piece of the same painted bg large enough, so I used a piece of metallic copper instead. I die cut the frame & the inside, but only used the frame here. This was also used for the backing layer behind the greeting. Then it was just a matter of arranging the leaves. The 2 little colored leaves are from the same set as the greeting & I attached them w/ a small copper brad to the greeting panel.

Here are the fabric paints I used. The card was a bright yellow & I squeezed out some of both colors & used a hard rubber brayer to spread the paint evenly. It also gives a bit of a fun texture, almost like cloth.

This is just to show the difference between the painted bg & the metallic copper. The leaf on the left is the painted one & the one on the right is the metallic copper. To me, the painted leaf has more depth & richness.

    Thanks
