Welcome to October!  And it’s time for the Splitcoaststampers Fan Club Oct Christmas Challenge! We have a year of new Christmas Challenges!  You’ll need to be Fan Club member but that’s easy…just click the blue link to find out how. Bet you’re wondering what the challenge theme is..I’d love to tell you but you’ll have to go see for yourself.

I admit I had a little trouble with this. I started w/ a piece of black card stock & inked the inside of the embossing folder w/ Versamark & first dry embossed it then heat embossed w/ a clear, sparkly powder. To me, the words didn’t really show up enough, so I inked over the raised letters w/ white pigment ink & heat embossed it again w/ white powder. It’s still really sparkly & it has a snowy, distressed look. The smaller black panel was die cut & dry embossed w/ the same folder. The ornaments were die cut once out of silver glitter paper & again in black. I pieced the two together then used a black Wink of Stella on the black pieces. The Noel was also die cut out of the silver glitter paper.

It’s my pleasure to guest host the Watercolor Wednesday Challenge (WCW018) on Splitcoast. The technique I chose is Watercolor on embossed paper. I thought it looked interesting but easy enough for everyone.

Since I wanted to make a Halloween card, I chose a couple of Halloween themed embossing folders to go w/ my cute little die cut owl. I embossed the large bg w/ the wordy folder then followed the instructions on the video using bright, Halloween colors of my Peerless watercolors. After it dried, I thought the words didn’t really pack the punch I wanted so I inked the inside of the folder w/ black soot Distress oxide ink & embossed the watercolored bg again. Much better! Now the words really show up.

I did the same for the little orange Wicked strip & perched my owl on it.

A big congrats to Holley, the newest Featured Stamper  (FS712) on Splitcoast! She has a wonderful gallery & I chose THIS card to case. I kept the horizontal layout w/ the 4 critters, so I kept that, but I used gnomes instead of animals, different colors & left off the ribbon.

For my card, I colored & die cut these cute little gnomes, then die cut the large white layer. I used an inside rounded squares die to cut out the 3 openings then backed it w/ a white lattice pattern piece. The greeting was stamped on one of the square cutouts & the other 2 were backed w/ a shades of purple paint chip. I also used it to cut the line of grass across the bottom.

Here are the Copics I used. Since I colored them separately, there’s a different pic for each gnome.
