Best of 2012 -SPLITCOASTSTAMPERS!

Congrats to Patty, the Featured Stamper this week on Splitcoast (FS301)! I spent a long time in her wonderful gallery and finally chose her Christmas Cardinal to case. I kept the Christmas theme w/ cardinals and the red and white colors but I left off the chocolate color, used different images and used different dies and embossing folder.

The images are new from Our Daily Bread designs. The cardinal ornament was stamped once with the red chalk ink and again with the black ink. The red version was die cut w/ a circle die and after coloring the other cardinals I cut them out and attached them on top of the red version. I die cut a another piece of white w/ the splendid circle die for the backing layer and dotted it w/ a white Pearl pen. An embossing folder was used on the final layer, a wide red grosgrain ribbon added then everything attached to my 4.25 x 5.50 card.

Congrats again, Patty, and thanks so much for stopping by!

Best of 2012 -SPLITCOASTSTAMPERS!

Fun challenges on Splitcoast today! I made this for the Technique Lover’s Challenge (TLC399), and also for the Clean and Simple Challenge (CAS192). I had a lot of fun with the TLC challenge. Super technique! I used the memtento inks on the block and also to stamp the various images. I did another square block and stamped the leaf image then die cut it w/ the deckled rectangle but I resized it fit around the image. The greeting and wheat stalk were stamped w/ the sienna ink. I overstamped some of the leaves and wheat stalks using the gold ink.

The images are all from Our Daily Bread designs. I had this narrow little copper strip left over and thought it looked good, so I added it down the right side. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Best of 2012 –SPLITCOASTSTAMPERS!

A BIG CONGRATS to Mary (aka jandjccc), the Splitcoast Featured Stamper (FS290)!

And wow does Mary have a fabulous gallery and I spent quite a bit of time strolling thru the pages. I was really struck by a scenic card she had called Lonesome Bird. I love the greens (my fave!) and the bird, the moon…well I love the whole thing. So I kept those, but I used different images, made a frame around mine and added two punched birds instead of the one stamped bird.

I needed an anniversary card for my hubby, since Monday is our anniversary so I thought Mary’s card would be the perfect one to case. I pulled out a long neglected Stampscapes image for this and after placing a circle mask for the moon, I sponged on the various green inks then stamped the image on top. A few wispy clouds were sponged across the moon and some highlights added to the trees and rocks. The reflected light on the water was done by scribbling a white Distress marker and a white gel pen then going over them w/ a water brush. The white gel pen was also used to add some stronger highlights to the water. The frame was die cut as were the flourish elements, then the punched birds and sentiment were added. The finished card is 6.25 x 4.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Enjoy your week, Mary!
