Fun site for the Splitcoast Inspiration Challenge (IC758)! I was inspired by THIS picture.

For my scene, I stamped & colored the lady & her guide dog & stamped the greeting along side. It just looked too empty & I couldn’t find anything I wanted to put behind her. So I used a pencil to sketch the little buildings & then a few grey Copics to color them in. Just a side note: in case you ever use a pencil then color in w/ Copics, be aware that if you color over your pencil line, you will not be able to erase it. It didn’t matter since I used greys, but it might matter if you use other light colors. Apparently the Copic (or any other alcohol based marker) makes the pencil permanent. So there’s your tip of the week!

Since my main panel is a square, I needed something to fill in the rectangle of the card front. I used a gray layer & cut the side angle, then stamped one section of the plaid (stripe) bg in gray ink.
Here are the Copics I used:

It’s my pleasure to host the first Inspiration Challenge of June (IC757)! And such an inspiring site we have w/ Design Pool & their Pinterest Boards. THIS is the picture that inspired my card.

I have a card today w/ most of the fish going one way & the one fish going the other. Doesn’t seem to bother him…he’s smiling! I think that’s probably me, lol. My mom always said I have a mind of my own & growing up, in order to get me to do something, she had to make me think it was my idea. Anyway, for my scene, I stamped the background fish w/ teal ink onto some turquoise paper that had been spritzed w/ a little bleach. I added just a touch of color to the fish. The main character was was stamped on white & fussy cut. I added a little stickles to him & to the stamped bubbles. The porthole was die cut (yay! I found a die that fit!). On the teal bg, I embossed it w/ a wave folder & some of it cracked, revealing the white core. So I just went w/ it & sanded off some of the high points to reveal the white.

The greeting was split w/ half on the front & the rest inside. Below it are the Copics I used.

For the Color Challenge on Splitcoast (CC793) today, we have 2 blues & a red. Perfect colors for a Patriotic card!

I’m using a new soldiers silhouette image. I know these will look great as a dark silhouette, but I wanted to see how they’d look if I used another (inked) image to ink them. It’s an old technique called “stamp kissing“. I used the stars & stripes border to ink the silhouettes (I put them in my Misti so I could do it more than once). I like how they turned out..as if they’re draped in the stars & stripes. I separated the greeting, above & below, & used the same inks to stamp them. The piece down the side is a piece of sticky back paper w/ red, white & blue narrow strips stuck to it. The lower section has stars stamped w/ white. Just to add a little something extra, I also punched some stars & added them to the soldiers & also a couple on the bg.

On the inside I stamped the stars & stripe border onto a sort of triangular piece & added it down the left side.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
