Best of 2014!
A big congrats to Katie, the newest Queen for the Day (QFTD220) on Splitcoast! She has a wonderful gallery and I was so pleased to be asked by Trish to be a Guest Designer for her crowning! There are a lot of cards I wanted to case, but THIS one really stuck in my head. I guess I’m just crazy for color…especially rainbows of color. That’s about the only thing my card has in common with Katie’s fun card. Not really sure how it went from cute little chicks to tall skyscrapers, but there you go. Â
For my card, I stamped my newly acquired Christmas scene twice and colored the buildings on both but only the sky/moon on one. I cut off the lower row w/ the Jingle Bell greeting in favor of a larger one underneath.  I die cut a square window on the black layer, and a slightly larger window on the white layer. The extra row of buildings was fussy cut and popped up on top of the window and slightly down.
After stamping the greeting, I added a single row of a die cut border and attached a rainbow strip behind it. This was a tad challenging since it’s a 3 row die & I also made the row shorter than the actual die. So to do this, I cut my strip the size I needed, put the die on top w/ only 1 row on the paper and only cut half way down. Took it out, and turned the die around (so it would have finished ends on both sides) and cut the other half. This is similar to the tutorial I did a long time ago: Resizing Your Nesties. Â The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Congrats again, Katie!
