A big congrats to Gem, the newest Featured Stamper (FS734) on Splitcoast! She has a beautiful gallery & after much browsing, I chose THIS card to case. I kept the layout, w/ the flowers & strips across the top, but I used stamped & watercolored flowers instead of die cut flowers, different colors & made my strips wider.

For my card, I stamped the florals onto 90# watercolor paper & used Brushos & water to paint my peonies. I like how vibrant the Brushos colors are & I used them like regular watercolors..mixed the powder in a palette w/ water & painted. The purple strips were die cut by cutting the purple once w/ a lg stitched rectangle die, then moving the bottom up to cut the strips. The flowers were cut using the matching die & the leaves were fussy cut.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

For the Inspiration Challenge, we are headed to Retro Stage, a vintage inspired clothing store. I was inspired by THIS dress. Ok..I changed the color from blues to purples & the snowflakes into hydrangea petals, but otherwise, they’re identical!

Since I had already stamped the hydrangeas together & colored them, I used my out of the box technique to die cut them. I took a few extra pics of this, & you can also click the green link to take you to the original tutorial.

First step, pick the die you want to use & determine which parts of your image will go “outside of the box” or circle, in this case. I used my craft knife to cut around those areas & lift them above the die (the stem is also cut out & on top of the die). Only the parts under the die will be cut when I run it thru the machine.

Here it is after I ran it thru the machine.

You can see, only the areas on the right which were under the die, were cut by the machine.
For the lg background, I sponged it using the purple inks, going from darker at the bottom & fading to the white on top. A little water was splattered on it to add the spots. The die cut hydrangea petals were sprinkled around & the greeting added along w/ some gems.

It’s my honor to host the Splitcoast Featured Stamper Challenge (FS733) so a big congrats to Dawn, the newest FS! She has such a fab gallery & after a lot of browsing, I chose THIS card to case. I kept the Easter theme w/ bunnies & eggs, but I used different images & dies, stamped bunnies instead of die cut & changed the layout a bit.

For my little Easter card, after stamping & die cutting the little bunnies, I stamped & colored in some grass for them to sit on, on the top panel. I die cut a lg oval out of it & attached it on top of a sponged bg w/ the Easter eggs stamped on top. Prismacolor pencils were used to add a little extra color, then I thought it looked too bright, so I covered it w/ a piece of vellum before attaching it under the oval. A stitched oval frame was added over the opening after the greeting strip was added but before the bunnies were attached.

Here are the Copics I used for the bunnies.(the chicks are another set, but I used all the same Copics for both sets, so that’s why they’re in the pic)

Thanks so much for stopping by!
