For the Color Challenge on Splitcoast (CC793) today, we have 2 blues & a red. Perfect colors for a Patriotic card!
I’m using a new soldiers silhouette image. I know these will look great as a dark silhouette, but I wanted to see how they’d look if I used another (inked) image to ink them. It’s an old technique called “stamp kissing“. I used the stars & stripes border to ink the silhouettes (I put them in my Misti so I could do it more than once). I like how they turned out..as if they’re draped in the stars & stripes. I separated the greeting, above & below, & used the same inks to stamp them. The piece down the side is a piece of sticky back paper w/ red, white & blue narrow strips stuck to it. The lower section has stars stamped w/ white. Just to add a little something extra, I also punched some stars & added them to the soldiers & also a couple on the bg.
On the inside I stamped the stars & stripe border onto a sort of triangular piece & added it down the left side.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

For the Inspiration Challenge (IC719) on Splitcoast, we’re heading to Dormify. A fun site (especially for back to schoolers) & I was inspired by THIS poster. I really liked the orange/blue combo.
To make my beach scene, I masked off the water & sky area & sponged in some oranges for the ground/sand, added a little brown to the sides along w/ stamping a splatter image for a little texture. The mask was reversed for the water & sky & those were sponged. I used some Tombow markers to “ink” up the palm trees & stamped them on either side. Surfer boy Zeke was colored & fussy cut & the old woody was die cut. The greeting is partly another stamp combined w/ some die cut & colored letters. I added the white wavy polaroid type frame for a little separation & to make the greeting stand out.
Here is the inside & the Copics I used:

Congrats to Janeen, the newest Featured Stamper (FS647) on Splitcoast! She has a lovely gallery & I chose THIS card to case. I kept the birthday/fishing theme but used different images, different dies & different colors.
For my card, I was trying out this new Camo Bg stamp. I will not lie…I had a bit of trouble at first. First couple of times, I used it too much & just made a messy looking bg. The next 5 times, I couldn’t find a color combo I liked. It was going to be like the little fisherman’s vest..but again it looked too messy so I just used a small part of it for the vest. I finally went with sort of a watery color combo then stamped the little fish on top. A little more subtle, but I like it.
The fisherman was colored w/ Copics (except for the paper pieced vest) & I split the greeting above & below him before adding a dark charcoal layer. The camo bg was actually done on printer paper..it was one of my practice sheets but I liked it so I just glued it to the same charcoal c/s & went w/ it.
Here’s the inside (I replaced the W in Wishes w/ an F from the Pawsitively greeting) & below it are the Copics I used.
