For the Splitcoast Inspiration Challenge (IC833), we’re going to a wonderful Lighthouse Pinterest Board where I found THIS lovely picture.

For my southwest card, I started w/ a background I made quite a while ago. I thought the purples & oranges were good colors for a desert sunset scene. The bg was done by smooshing the Marvy metallic markers onto a rubber brayer, spritzing w/ water & rolling it over a piece of white card. If I remember correctly, I did it once w/ the yellow, orange & silver colors & again w/ the purples & silver. The hills & cactus plants were die cut out of a few shades of purple & I used part of the leftover orange areas for the cowgirl, cowboy & roadrunner. They were also popped up on foam to give them a little depth.

Congrats to Kari, the newest Featured Stamper (FS661) on Splitcoast! She has lovely, growing gallery & I chose THIS card as my inspiration. I kept the western theme & framed boxes, but I used different images & colors, different layout & changed it from a cowgirl to a cowboy.

For my version, I made a western themed birthday card. Originally, the 3 squares were going to be in a line down one side. But in order to have this much of the images in the square, it made them too big to stack. So the Cowboy was moved to his own side &  put on top instead of inside a cut out square.

With the layout having so much going on, I kept the color palette simple & stuck to 2 colors, since most guys don’t want things too fussy, anyway. I added a piece of a barbed wire die cut (hey, guys don’t really “get” ribbon & I’m pretty sure the butterflies like Kari used, would be wasted on them, lol) & put the greeting under the cowboy.

Here’s a look at the inside & below it are the Copics I used.

My cowgirl Valentine fits right in w/ the Free For All (F4A466) Challenge to make a Valentine w/o using a heart.

After coloring & fussy cutting my cowgirl..it seemed easier than trying to mask her & color the bg dark blue, I die cut a big circle moon for her to lasso. I added the greeting onto the moon, then added the fence boards at the bottom & some stars at the top of the card front.
