  • ODBD April Look Back!

    Thinking Neon 03162
Today we are taking a look back at the ODBD April release! Such beautiful dies, papers and images! For my card, I used the beautiful Flourish Pattern die as the main focus. I first die cut it out of white card stock. I used a piece of card board under the card stock when I die cut it and the negative piece stuck to the card board. I placed a piece of sticker paper over this and managed to get all the negative pieces stuck to the sticker paper. The exposed area was still sticky so I coated it with black embossing powder and heat embossed it. Maybe a little involved, but I like the look of the shiny embossing powder in the space where the die cut would be.

I stamped and black embossed the Flourish Label onto neon green card stock and die cut it.The greeting is part of the Chalkboard Collection paper and was die cut as well. I also added a little Copic fluorescent green to the lettering. To finish, I added a black grosgrain bow tied w/ a narrow neon green ribbon.

  • Pink Cat

For my card, I turned the sketch on its side to better fit the images. I used parts of the super cute Meow Collage. I used a DTP (direct to paper) technique with chalk inks on white card stock. The images were stamped on top of this background. The cat was stamped again on white and I paper pieced the cut out cat and stripes onto the white image. I also added some paper pieced eyes I colored green onto to the pink version cat. The kitty stripes, nose & ears were colored with a white gel pen.

For the yarn balls, I masked the first stamping and stamped it again.  On top of the panel behind it, I stamped the Triangle Stripes across it. The Posy and Posy Greeting Center were stamped and cut out and I added some pink sorbet twine behind it. The large background was also done DTP and I used a large corner rounder on the corners. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

And here’s a look at my note book.

  • Birthday Banners

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/

Super color combo challenge (CC341)  today at Splitcoast! I chose to use them in small doses on a mostly white card. I needed a bday card and I wanted it to be fun and colorful and I think this will fit the bill.

The row houses were die cut out of the BG dp w/ a little red for the roof. I added just a bit of texture to it then traced around the window openings w/ a Micro pen. The the little hot air balloon and sentiment were paper pieced using some of the same dp as the houses. The clouds were punched out of the cloud dp I used for the next layer.

I hand cut the sentiment into a banner shape and added the little cut out banners across the sky. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.5.
