Tie Dye Flowers

I love this big floral die cut! You can do so much with it. Paper piece all the insides, inlay the outline, die cut and attach it over pretty paper or colored background. I also tried a new technique on the little glittery orange flowers. Follow along while I explain what I did on this card. The best part is you only need 2 die sets to make this card (other than 1 plain rectangle die).

It’s my turn to host the Inspiration Challenge (IC100) & we are headed to Nana’s Place & her Pinterest Board where I was inspired by THIS. I read her tutorial on the nail polish flowers & really wanted to give it a try. I ended up with only the little glitter orange flowers done this way, but it was fun to try it. (Her tutorial is HERE if you want to see it.)

I started by using a glue stick to attach a piece of heavy duty aluminum foil to plain card stock & die cutting a bunch of the little flowers. Then I found some glitter orange nail polish & gave the technique a try. I brushed the nail polish onto the back of the flowers, waited for less than a minute to let the polish thicken a bit, then slowly drug the brush across the open areas. I ended up doing 1 section at a time. If you get it correctly, the polish will form an almost transparent bubble across the opening. Let it dry a minute, then add another coat for more color. I tried, but just could not get it to work on the larger flowers. For the large floral, I die cut it out of purple lava mirror card (it looks really cool in person), pushed out all the inside pieces, then attached it to a piece of white card board. I die cut it again out of a piece of glossy, brayered background I had in my stash, & pieced all them into the purple outline. The 2 white layers were die cut w/ the dot dash rectangles & attached to more of the purple mirror card. My little nail polish flowers were added as accents.

Thanks
so much for stopping by!
