Birthday Pottery

For today’s Color Challenge (CC525), we had a wide range of choices. I chose the far left row of colors (saffron, pistachio, sky, cantaloupe) for my card. The main reason I went with these colors was I came across a background I made a while back, using embossing folder stamping & some shine sprays (I sprayed the colors directly onto the embossing folder, then lightly pressed it to the paper). The colors are almost exact matches, so that was that! Then I couldn’t figure out what to do with it, lol. I finally pulled out one of my favorite images, these pottery vases, colored them w/ Copics & fussy cut them.

I stamped them again on top of the background after I die cut it (no way was I going to cut out those skinny little branches), then attached them on top. An extra center vase was popped up. The greeting is combo of the actual stamp & a couple of die cut words w/ their first letters snipped off to replace the ones in the stamp. I used a stamp positioner to rearrange the rest of the greeting to fit where the die cut letters would be. A sky blue layer, some black sequins & a black Candi dot were added to finish. These are the Copics I used for the vases.

Serendipity SSCB#42 – Monograms & Verse!

Welcome to the April Challenge for Serendipity Stamps! This month the challenge is Monograms & Verse! You can get all the details over on the Serendipity Challenge Blog. We have something new…a “Stamp of the Month”. Each month a different image will be 50% off. This month- it’s the Jar Label. For my Monogram card, rather than just have the Monogram by itself, I used the Monogram snipped from the Thanks die (I also snipped off a bit of the flourish) as the first letter in my greeting. I used a stamp positioner to move the lines of the greeting to better fit the Monogram. I love this Giraffe set and rather than color it, I used a piece of drywall mesh (it’s sticky on the backside) as a stencil, masked the sides, sponged some ink through it and added a little more color in a few of the squares w/ Copics. The image was stamped on top & die cut. I added a black mat then put it back on the larger piece it was cut from so it looks like the grid continues. A few of the sequins from the Wood Sequin combo were sprinkled here & there.

Serendipity SSCB#41 pt 2 – Spring Fever!

Welcome to the March Challenge for Serendipity Stamps! This month the challenge is Spring Fever! You can get all the details over on the Serendipity Challenge Blog. For the Design Team, we have the added challenge of using crystal effects on our cards. For my Spring card, rain, umbrellas, flowers and showers come to mind when I think of Spring. I started by sponging a white panel from the top left corner down using the yellow inks and sponging the pink inks from the right corner up. I die cut the center panel out of the larger one using the stitched rectangle then stamped the flower corner w/ black in the upper left. I added just a bit more color to the flowers and leaves with Copics and used a white gel pen in the flower centers. After masking the flower corner, I stamped the beaded string background with white ink and white embossed it. I wiped a bit of the ink off the lower edge to make it an angled background.

I added some crystals to some of the dots and some clear dimensional glue (the closest thing I had to crystal effects) on the rest. It was also added to all the flower centers. You can probably see it a little better in the picture above. A few extra flowers were fussy cut and added here & there. The umbrella was die cut out of white & also vellum, the center was replaced w/ the vellum & the lacy topper added along with greeting. I added a narrow white layer under the top layer and attached it back on top of the original panel. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used on the flowers.

I used smaller sponged panel & umbrella on the inside along with the sponged Congratulations die cut.
