    Antique Dress Form cu 04477

    Weekly-FavoriteWeekly-Favorite
Today we are taking another look at the Our Daily Bread designs September release! The images and doily dies are well…to die for! Vintage is not a style I use very often, but these lovely antique dress form images just scream vintage.

    Antique Dress Form 04480
After stamping and coloring the Victoria dress form, I die cut it using the Antique Labels die, left the die in place and sponged on some antique linen ink. The Doily die was cut out of black and added behind the dress form. On the ivory panel underneath it on the left, I stamped the Birthday Doily image using the spun sugar ink.  The designer paper on right was much paler to begin with, but I added more color to the flowers and also stamped the Elizabeth dress form with the tattered rose ink randomly all over it.

I finished w/ some half pearls in different sizes and a seam ribbon bow I also colored with Copics to match. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used.

    Bday Doily 04438
On my first card, I stamped the lovely doily image from Doily Blessings using a combo of the olive & pine inks then added color with Copics. I used the large doily outline die to cut it & added a peach “button” in the center using the smallest die of the set. The backing layers were cut w/ square die then embossed w/ fancy square die. The peach square layer was also stamped w/ the flower image from the Ornate Borders & Flowers images using the rose ink. It’s not really discernible, but adds a nice color variation to the layer. I stamped the flower again on white and stamped the greeting on top using the pine ink before die cutting w/ the matching flower die.

The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used.

For my second card, I die cut the beautiful doily out of some handmade ivory paper I’ve had for a long time. I die cut the center out of the ivory and again out of the dp and added the little flower centers of the navy dp into the ivory version. The dp was cut first with a matting basics die then w/ a curved border die and added on top of more of the handmade ivory paper. The bottom portion that was cut off was turned over (it’s double sided paper) and attached on the bottom. The greeting was stamped in the open section ( I had to mask off part as it wouldn’t fit). The knitting basket & yarn images were stamped, lightly colored w/ Copics and die cut w/ the matching dies.

  • Serendipity SSCB #33 Twine

Stroll On the Beach cu 04036Welcome to  the July Challenge for Serendipity Stamps! This month the challenge is is Twine. The design team has the added challenge HOT…(hot colors, heat embossing, what’s hot…etc). You only have to use twine. And be sure to check out the 50% Off Wood Clearance Sale, lots of $1 stamps, and Clearance stamps!
    SS Button_design team_res
For my card, I went with the Hot Colors option. I love beach sunset scenes so that’s the look I was going for here. I used a combination of sponging and Copic markers for the colors. I grew up in a beach town and I really love palm tree images so I thought this coconut palm would be perfect. After stamping it and the little sun/cloud image, I sponged on some hot sunset colors above the horizon and some water colors below. Normally, I would mask the tree and horizon, but I didn’t feel like cutting out a mask for the palm tree, so I sponged very close to the tree then filled in any white areas w/ Copics.

Stroll on the Beach 04033The tree and sand were colored with Copics and I used a white gel pen to add some highlights. For the twine part of the Challenge, I used a piercing mat & tool to make the two rows of holes, then used some of the yellow/orange twine from The Twinery to stitch the two layers together. I did divide the 4 strands of twine and only used 2 strands to stitch. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25 and these are the Copics & inks I used for coloring.

I’m also adding this to the Simon Says Monday Challenge…White, since this whole panel started out white.

Stroll on the Beach copics 04030By the way, the prize this month is an assorted pack of twine from The Twinery!
