  • Autumn Reflection

    For the Splitcoast Inspiration Challenge (IC768), we have Charish Pinterest Board. There is so much to see, I got lost for a while. I finally chose two…THIS & THIS. I liked the fall tree in the first, & the divided panels in the second.

    I used this beautiful 2 part stamp set & some fall colors of Color Fuse inks to stamp the foliage part of the tree & black for the trunk. From the beginning, I knew I wanted to do a reflection scene, so I left plenty of room below the main image. It didn’t start out to be a slimline card, but I quickly realized it would have to be to get the reflection part in. For the reflection, I inked the trunk part of the image really well, then rolled a rubber brayer over it. I positioned the brayer below the main image & rolled it away from the main image to create the reflection. For the foliage part, I used the inks & a paintbrush to fill it in then sponged in the colors of the ground & water.

    A few white highlights were added on the water then I used the stitched slimline dies to cut the image into 3 panels & backed it w/ rust.  (Check out the tutorial HERE. It works the same way, just in opposite..making the panels narrower instead of wider. Just be sure to match up the stitch lines when moving the die over.)The two leaves were stamped onto a separate piece I inked w/ more of the fall colors & die cut w/ the matching dies.

  • Slimline Fall

    Such wonderful fence murals we have to chose from for the Splitcoast Inspiration Challenge (IC767)! I chose THIS fence for the lovely fall colors.

    I also have a couple of extra pics to show you how I did this & a little hint on how to make it easier.

    Before I made this card, I made a copy paper version of it in order to work out the logistics. I die cut the 2 layers out of paper & used temporary adhesive to stick them together. Then I put this sandwich into my Misti & inked the different layers of leaf stems w/ the Color Fuse inks. Each branch was stamped twice..once w/ the top layer in place, then I removed the smaller top layer & stamped it again. To make this easy to match up the layers, I drew a small corner reference on the lower right corner below the top layer w/ a pencil. So when I put it back to stamp the next branch, I could line it up easily. The reason I stamped the bottom layer as well as the top is so I wouldn’t have any blank spots showing thru when I popped up the top layer.

    These are the 2 layers broken apart. I could also see that I would have to stamp the greeting first & mask it so the last 2 stems wouldn’t overlap it.

    Since I had worked it all out on a paper version, the real version went very fast & no mistakes! I added a rust layer under the top part & elevated it w/ fun foam.

  • Just Bees

    For the Splitcoast Inspiration Challenge (IC766), we are headed to Allen Designs Studio & after much browsing, I chose THIS for my inspiration.

    My card features these cute little bees & sunflowers on a Slimline card. I’m really loving these new dies! After I die cut the white front & all the flowers & bees, I put them together. For the background, I found a leftover piece of mixed media I made, who knows how long ago, using metallic acrylic paints. I liked the colors so I die cut circles bigger than the openings (to show thru the little dots surrounding the circles), then cut them again w/ smaller circles. I used a honeycomb die on the smaller circles, then put them back inside, leaving out a few of the hexagons.
