I’m so excited to have been asked to be a Guest Designer for the Splitcoast Color Challenge this month! And for the first challenge (CC773) of 2020, we have a blue, yellow & brown color combo, w/ trees as the dessert option. I don’t tend to use a lot of brown so it was a good challenge for me.

It’s kind of funny, but after I was told the colors, I went to bed that night & kept thinking “what am I going to make?”. When I woke up, I actually had a picture of this card in my head. All I had to do was to try create it. And a tree w/ a deer is actually an excellent way to work that brown in to the mix. For the bg panels,  I used some blue Brushos on watercolor paper & just let the watery mixed blues run & spread down the paper. After it dried, I cut it into 3 panels & attached a little cardboard to the backs then onto a deckle edge espresso brown panel. I added a larger lt blue panel behind it then the die cut espresso tree on the left & a saffron yellow sun behind it. The deer was also attached to a matching cardboard die cut & I used Prismacolor Pencils to add the color.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Such a wonderful site for the Inspiration Challenge (IC677) this week! After much browsing, I chose THIS for my inspiration. I really like the half tree in the red frame.

I stamped my tree at the edge of the white card stock, colored it then added a larger white bg & red stitched frame on top. The presents were stamped separately & fussy cut. I used a tag die for the partial greeting, die cutting it halfway then turning the die around to cut the right half like the left. I really like this tag die set, the holes for it (1 round & 1 square) are separate so I can put it anywhere on the tag.

Here’s a look at the inside (with the rest of the greeting) & also the Copic I used.

Congrats to Tricia, the Featured Stamper this week on Splitcoast (FS293)! What a wonderful gallery! I chose her Wonderful card to case. I kept the tree theme and general layout but changed the colors, images and die cut shape.

The images are from DRS Designs. I love making fall cards! The colors, the images…they’re all fabulous. For this card, I started by sponging on the colors from the Autumn Leaves Kpad, then stamped the tree scene in chocolate ink. I added a bit more shading around the tree w/ markers and die cut it. The chocolate layer behind it was embossed only using a lg rectangle die. I used three different embossing folders on the green bg and gold strip. The leaves were stamped separately using the same autumn ink and cut out. The sentiment was stamped on some deep orange c/s and die cut w/ a ribbon banner. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
