NCC Look Back at the Oct Release

Today we are looking back at the North Coast Creations October Release! I just love this Christmas Beach scene and I thought it would be fun to put a frame around it and have Santa wearing a beach outfit. After looking thru my NCC images, I figured out I could put Santa’s face (from Holly Jolly Christmas) on Pool Time Buford’s body and have a Santa all ready to go for a swim. The only thing I did other than color and cut them out, was to draw the socks on his feet. I added the greeting and little clouds on top of the frame.

The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25 and these are the Copics I used to color everything.

Birthday on the Beach

BEST OF 2013!

A big congrats to Robin (Missro), the Featured Stamper on Splitcoast (FS324)! What a lovely gallery she has and after much browsing, I chose her Happy Birthday Joan card to case. I kept the basic layout and white background but turned it on its side, used different images and made mine a window instead of a layer.

I needed a birthday card for my nephew and since he was born in Hawaii, I usually make him a beach related card. Though I have to admit, this beach scene reminds me more of the town where I grew up rather than Hawaii. The images are from Our Craft Lounge (sadly they closed 🙁 up their business). I stamped the scene on top then added a black frame and the top white layer w/ windows cut out using Spellbinders long deckled rectangles. Another one of the images was stamped on the top layer and all of it was colored w/ Copic markers. The little seagull was fussy cut and attached on top. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

Brayered Beach

I’m doing my best to combine two Splitcoast challenges on this card: TLC378 (use a brayer) and the color challenge CC376 (pick some retiring colors). And I thought I’d use these Our Daily Bread designs images to make a Father’s Day card.

For the TLC (brayered paper), I used a brayer and a rainbow pad to do the background and sentiment strip. Before using the brayer, I put down some drywall mesh to get this cool grid pattern. The beach scene was stamped w/ the lapis ink onto vellum and I used markers on the backside for a little soft color. I used some trimmed off strips to make a little frame around the vellum.

For the CC, I used the pear pizzazz, concord crush and a teeny bit of the blushing bride (right at the horizon). I hope it ok that there are a couple of extra colors in the mix. My finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.
