  • Pumpkin Thanks

Posted on September 29, 2023 10:32 PM by Julie Comment

A Thanksgiving card with a different color combo. Blue & orange pumpkins w/ splattered leaves & partially die cut greeting. Two different backgrounds were used for the pumpkins & leaves. Great way to use up those backgrounds you made that aren’t that impressive on their own. Once you stamp & die cut an image onto them, they take on a whole new look.

For the Inspiration Challenge (IC930) we’re visiting What Meagan Makes & her Pinterest site where I found THIS picture for my inspiration. I really liked the color combo of blue & orange for the pumpkins, so that’s where I started.

I had a couple of different backgrounds in my stash..1 was heavily splattered red/orange on the bottom and mostly ivory on top. I used that for the 1 whitish pumpkin & some of the leaves. The red/orange part I used for the rest of the leaves. The other background was brayered w/ blue & orange & to me, wasn’t all that pretty by itself. But I think it did work out great for the 2 bigger pumpkins. All the images were stamped w/ espresso Distress oxide ink. I wanted a bit of a softer, worn look & that fit the bill.

I also used the red/orange part for the Thanks die cut greeting, attached an ivory version, offset behind it before attaching it to the blue shadow. The Give word was stamped w/ an alphabet set. For the large ivory background, I smooshed two of the brown shades of the Color Fuse ink onto an acrylic block, then used a wet paintbrush to pick up the color & splatter it across the background. I used the lightest, mocha ink to sponge the edges of the panel.

Then it was just a matter of arranging all the die cut images. the pumpkins are popped up a bit, w/ the mostly ivory one, popped up just a bit more than the others.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • Birthday Patio

Posted on August 25, 2023 9:55 PM by Julie Comment

A fun birthday card w/ a cute patio set, that looks harder than it is. The new paver bg die is great to use over a variety of background papers & makes them look great.

We are visiting Image Kind & their Pinterest Board. I was inspired by THIS patio set picture & I thought this new patio die set would be perfect for it.

For my teal patio card, I die cut the center rectangle out of mint, along w/ the little pillows & table top. I used a teal for the chair cushions & 1 vase. The background was die cut out of a darker teal using a paver cover die. I stacked it a couple of times for dimension, then attached it to a Distress oxide ink bg I had hanging around. I filled in the smaller diamonds w/ white to break it up a bit. It was pretty easy to put it all together & to finish I added the stamped/die cut Happy Birthday.

Just a tiny bit of stickles was added to the flower centers.

    Thanks
    so much for stopping by!

  • Dare to Get Dirty & other challenges

Posted on August 12, 2018 5:16 PM by Julie Comment

I’ve fallen a little behind on my posting & here are 2 cards I made for Dare to Get Dirty Challenges & also the Inspiration & Featured Stamper Challenges. For all the details of the DTGD challenges, go HERE…but you’ll need to be a Fan Club member.

This first one was for the Inspiration Challenge (IC662) &.THIS & THIS were my inspirations. I loved the palm trees in the first, and the colors in the second. And, I used a technique from TLC698, gel plate impressionism. Basically, you put a gel plate into your Misti, ink it up w/ Distress oxide inks, mist w/ alcohol (the rubbing kind, lol), stamp your image on top w/ dye ink, then place your card stock on top of the gel plate. So that’s what I did. The colors move around & mix a bit & the silhouette isn’t quite as sharp as it would be, but the overall look is pretty nice. After it dried, I added the seagulls & a little white highlighting on the palms. Here’s the inside.

    Supplies:

Stamps: DRS Designs –  Palm Tree Line , Seaside Dock , Sending Sunshine (inside: Sun Shine On You )
    Paper: Staples 110# white
Ink: Distress oxide inks  peacock feathers, squeezed lemonade, worn lipstick, cracked pistachio, Memento tuxedo black
Accessories:  Misti, Lil’ Inker stitched rectangle dies, Gelli plate, white gel pen

This card was for the Featured Stamper Challenge (FS601). I chose THIS to case. I kept the cactus in the desert theme, but I used different images, different colors & added a greeting. I also got a kick out of Beth’s description of her card.

To make my desert scene, I stamped the Cowboy Cactus, masked it, then stamped the Broken Flower Fence around it. Makes it kind of look like the cowboys are out fixing the fence & left a hat & rope on the cactus. After coloring everything, I die cut it w/ a wonky stitched rectangle then added some clouds & a sunflower for the sun rays. The greeting is part of the Western Word Square & I used a wonky circle die to cut it. Here’s the inside & next to it are the Copics I used.
