Masculine cards can sometimes leave you at a loss for ideas. These new silhouette dies are perfect and so easy to build a scenic card using them. The background is color blended then the scene added on top and finally the silhouette fisherman. Sure to impress the men in your life.

For the Inspiration Challenge IC1016, we are visiting Cotton & Crete and their Pinterest Board. The cover of THIS book was my inspiration.

To make my card, I started with white panel cut just about 1/4″ smaller than a standard 4.25 x 5.50 card front. I used the inks & blending brushes to color it, roughly mapping in where I wanted the colors to change. After putting it into the Misti, I stamped the silhouette grasses at the very bottom & the silhouette trees at the top where the color changed from blue to sunrise/sunset colors. To add a little more interest, I die cut the center w/ rectangle die & edged it w/ a black marker. A slightly larger white deckle layer was added to a thin black mat & attached behind the center scene, then attached back on top of the rest of the scene. A narrow black mat was added underneath it before attaching to the card. The greeting was stamped & the fisherman silhouette added.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

A big congrats to Aimeslee, the newest Featured Stamper (FS746) on Splitcoast. She has a lovely gallery & I chose THIS card to case. I kept the layout (for the most part) & the embossed bg, but I used different dies, colors & a different embossing folder.

For my Father’s Day card, I started by die cutting all the tool in red & mirror silver then putting them together. The jeans pocket & bg are some really old dp I had & it was a little too gray, so I sponged on some blue ink. For the pocket, I cut it first w/ a stitched square then took an angled border die across the bottom. I used a gold gel pen to create the “thread” stitching & added a piece of cardboard under the pocket & tucked the tools inside. The measuring tape is a piece of twill ribbon that I used a red Copic to color. The silver bg was embossed w/ a metal plate folder & I used a dk gray Copic to add some antiquing to it.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Welcome to the June Challenge for Serendipity Stamps! This month the challenge is My Guy (masculine card)! The Design Team has the added challenge of using texture (embossing, fabric, etc.). You can get all the details over on the Serendipity Challenge Blog.  We have something new…a “Stamp of the Month”. Each month a different image will be 50% off. This month- it’s the Grill. Be sure to check out the great deals on the Clearance Stamps, too. And as always, we have a  have a gift certificate up for grabs to a random player.

My first thought at this time of year for a guy card, was of course, Father’s Day. I had the idea to use the train image, but then I realized I had forgotten to get a Father’s Day greeting. So I guess necessity IS the mother of invention, lol. I searched the word dies & made the DAD out of the Day die.
    Dads Train 06474
For the background frame & mountain part of the scene, I used Brusho water color crystals by sprinkling them onto damp water color paper, then blending them out with a wet paintbrush. I added a bit of shimmer by washing over it with some pearlescent water colors.

Here’s the picture of the background, showing how I die cut the large piece & made a frame out of it. From the center, I found the area I wanted for the mountains and die cut a circle around it. By masking, I stamped the background part of the scene & filled in with more of the trees.  I added a woodgrain embossed white front & the cut out train. The envelope ties were also fussy cut and added behind the die cut oval w/ the greeting. The upper left corner element is just a leftover piece of the water color background and a Candi dot.

The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used on the train image.
