A big HOWDY to you & welcome to the Our Daily Bread designs May Mid Month Release! I tell you, this release is exactly what a Texas girl loves! And since that describes me to a T, I LOVE these! Not to mention how much you can do w/ a fabulous silhouette image.

To start my first card, I knew I wanted a brightly sponged background, so I dug out a few Kaleidacolor ink pads. They have the most vibrant colors and that’s what I wanted.

    Howdy Cowboy 09164
I used a a torn mask for the ground & sponged on the greens, reversed the mask & sponged on some yellow for the sky. Then I added a big circle mask & sponged on more yellow, some orange & a little red. I used the edge of the sponge to add the streaks coming from the sun, then highlighted them a bit w/ a white Prismacolor pencil. I put the bg into my Misti then stamped the silhouette cowboy, lg cactus & the eagle from the Bookmark Trees set. The small cactus & little cloud are punches. I die cut the scene w/ a Double Stitched Rectangle, doing a little out of the box for the eagle. The black background was done w/ a small border punch. I made a corner template out of copy paper & used it to help punch all around the edges and have it be as symmetrical as possible.

Here’s a look at the inside.

    Supplies:

Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs – Howdy, Bookmark Trees (retired)
    Paper: Staples 110# white, black
Ink:  Kaliedacolor inks Desert Heat, Melon Melody, Fresh Greens,  Versafine onyx, (habanero -inside)
Accessories: ODBD  Double Stitched Rectangles dies, Misti, cactus punch, SW border punch, cloud punch, white Prismacolor pencil

My second cowboy card started w/ pieces of a leftover watercolor bg. I liked the bright sunset colors w/ flecks of metallic gold & thought it might be fun to use them in a split background configuration.

    Weekly-Favorite Color-Challenge-Favorite
Having them separated like this was very challenging to say the least. I placed them on top of the die cut turquoise bg w/ temporary adhesive & stamped the silhouette on top. Leaving the turquoise mat in place, I removed the orange w/c layer & stamped the silhouette again.
    Cowboy Bday 09197
I liked the look the textured turq c/s gave to the ground area, but not so much on the cowboy. So I stamped him again on a separate piece & fussy cut him. Yikes! That was some fancy cutting, let me tell you! Then I had to go over all the cut edges w/ a black marker to keep them from showing. I added the greeting & big star frame to finish.

I love this sweet little Cowgirl image & she’s so fun to color. After I put her in my Misti, I stamped her w/ Memento, colored w/ Copics, then over stamped w/ Versafine. I did the same to the Boots & used the matching Boots die to cut them. I die cut a stitched rectangle w/ a stitched circle cut out opening for the cowgirl, then I used a curved border die to cut the bottom edge. I added a vintage pink layer behind it & did a little out of the box on her hat to place the layers on top of her. The greeting was added below the circle & the boots added on top. The little metal concho was originally a copper color & I added a rosy color to it w/ a Copic marker. It’s one I’ve had in my stash forever so I can’t even remember where I bought it.

Here are the Copics I used.

    NCC Merry Cactus cu 07740
    Weekly-Favorite
Welcome to the North Coast Creations November Release! And wow, do we have some fabulously cute images for your Christmas card making this year! You’re going to LOVE these!
How can you not love a Christmas Cactus all decked out w/ shiny lights? It just screams Southwest! As a native Texan, I adore SW themed images and this one is right up my alley.

NCC Merry Cactus 07736After I stamped, colored, over stamped & fussy cut the Cactus Lights image, I kept picturing a little window scene so that’s what I tried to recreate. ODBD has several window dies, but I just felt like it needed to be round on top & not too big. (Please note: the ODBD site is having technical difficulties so the pictures & links may not be working for a day or two). I used a resizing trick I came up with a long time ago, but instead of making it bigger, I made the window smaller by cutting just the top part down to the middle of the first set of square panes, turning the die around & moving the bottom up. Then I cut the bottom part only & there you go..a window that is shorter by one set of square panes. I added 4 die cut shutters (for blinds) from the Welcoming Window die & a piece of dp behind it that is Christmasy but still has a SW look to it. On the white layer, I stamped the greeting at the bottom & used a SW border folder to emboss just under the dp. I used the O from the Joy image as a wreath for the window.

Here’s a look at the inside & below it are the Copics I used.

    Supplies:

Stamps: North Coast Creations –Cactus Lights, Joy
Paper:  X-Press It white, Neenah white, kraft, dp (DCWV -The Christmas matstack)
Ink: Memento tuxedo black, Versafine onyx (to overstamp after coloring), (Distress ink twisted citron on inside)
Accessories:  ODBD Flourished Star Pattern, Welcoming Window, Window dies, Copic markers, Misti, Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A & B dies, Cuttlebug embossing folder (Southwest borders set)

    NCC Buford Santa cu 07733
On my second card, I used the super cute Santa Buford. After stamping w/ Memento, I colored him using a combination of Copics & Prismacolor pencils. His jacket & bag are mostly pencils & Buford is mostly Copics w/ a white pencil highlight. I just love the way Prismacolors look when used on this lt kraft c/s. And since he was still in my Misti, I stamped over him w/ Versafine after I was finished coloring. This really brings back the lines you tend to lose when using Prismacolor pencils. He was die cut w/ a Circle Ornament & I did my out of the box tech to keep from cutting off his tail.

    NCC Buford Santa 07731
I put together the 3 pieces of dp to get my background then added the die cut Merry w/ a few stockings fussy cut from the dp. The Medium Bow was die cut from red & I used a small letter J punch to make the candy canes on the bow. The cut glass button was clear & I used a red copic to color it.

Here’s a look at the inside & below it are the Copics I used.
