Serendipity SSCB #34 Miss You

Welcome to the August Challenge for Serendipity Stamps ! This month the challenge is is Miss You/Thinking of You. The design team has the added challenge of CAS (Clean & Simple). You only have to make a Miss You/Thinking of You card. The sale at Serendipity Stamps this week is Free Shipping on any US order of $10 or more. Good through August 13th. And as always, we have a have a gift certificate up for grabs to a random player. For my CAS card, I stamped the mustang with Versafine because I knew I wanted to use a water soluble graphite & water color paper and Memento doesn’t really stand up to water nor work really well on textured paper like water color paper. I added shading w/ the graphite and a water brush then die cut with an oval die & matted it on a black oval. As I was looking at the w/c paper I cut the oval from, I thought..I wonder how it would look if I put the oval on the inside, viewable through the cut out? A window or outside in type card. So I cut the strip to A2 size, scored it to put the oval on the inside. I added a black die cut oval ring around the outside oval and the the greeting near the edge. On the inside, I stamped the rope corner and added more of the graphite. It looks a little warpy at the top because this water color paper is much heavier than card stock and it does not like to be turned inside out! Thanks so much for stopping by! Bubble Pigs

Well, today’s Ways to Use It (WT482) Challenge on Splitcoast is Let the Sunshine In! So I’m thinking a sunshine greeting will work along with these silly pigs and their bubbles. When I first rec’d these images, I thought, oh cute! Then I started coloring them. Pigs are a little tough because it’s a challenge to get the color right. Bubbles are hard. So many colors and they need to be transparent. Pigs IN a bubble are ridiculous! But I tried. Actually the one pig isn’t really in the bubble on the image…there’s grass underfoot. I’m the idiot that put him inside the bubble. Oh well. Live and learn.

After I stamped the pig blowing the bubbles, I extended the grass a bit then did my “into the window” technique. It’s like out of the box, but it goes the other direction. I die cut a circle just big enough to put the other pig inside and colored it to hopefully look like a bubble. Added the lavender layer and a few enamel accent dots. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25 and these are the Copics I used.

Stinky Sweet

A big congrats to Lols, the newest Featured Stamper this week on Splitcoast (FS367)! Such a fun gallery she has and I chose THIS card to case. I loved the cute little skunk image and clouds so I kept those and used similar colors, but I used different images, a different layout and added a frame around my image.

After stamping the little stinker, I colored him with Copics and die cut a frame around him. Added a couple of little clouds, a big flower and stamped the greeting on the edge of the frame. The wall looking piece was a leftover that had been embossed and colored w/ lt gray & black markers. I just thought it was a good contrast with the framed image. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25 and these are the Copics I used.
