  • Fall Leaf Wreath

Posted on November 8, 2024 10:15 PM by Julie Comment

I have a sneak peak at a beautiful new Twig Wreath w/ leaves to be released on 11/20. I absolutely love this wreath and all the lovely leaves that come with it. The background also features a lightly stenciled fall floral that I cut using the woodgrain die for some extra texture.

For the Inspiration Challenge (IC988) we are visiting Bronner’s & their Pinterest Board. It’s mostly a Christmas store but they have a fall/Thanksgiving section where I found THIS towel.

I couldn’t wait to try out this twig wreath & I knew it would be perfect for my inspiration. I die cut 1 twig wreath out of dark brown, another out of kraft & a third out of card board to give it some sturdiness. I put them all together then cut out all the leaves in scraps of various fall colored card stock. A white square was die cut & I determined where I had to stamp the greeting before I attached it. I also added some twig & berries from another set. For the background, I used a new 3 part stencil & 3 colors of inks on kraft. I used muted colors since I didn’t want it too bright. Then I ran it thru the die cut machine w/ the woodgrain plank die.

    Thanks
    so much for stopping by!

  • Fall Season

Posted on October 25, 2024 10:28 PM by Julie Comment

Are you having a beautiful fall? The colors are really popping in my area. The beautifully colored leaves inspired my card, along with these lovely dies and new stencil. I wanted it to be the focus so I left most of it uncovered, Come take a look at how I made this.

For the Inspiration Challenge (IC986), we are visiting Personal Creations & their Pinterest Board. I used THIS for my inspiration.

To make my card, I first used a fan leaf stencil, along w/ the yellow, red, orange & green inks. When I was happy with it, I die cut it using the inside only of the wood sign die. I love the texture and added interest. For the leaves, I used a piece of painted background I made a while back, using fabric paints. I didn’t have a piece of the same painted bg large enough, so I used a piece of metallic copper instead. I die cut the frame & the inside, but only used the frame here. This was also used for the backing layer behind the greeting. Then it was just a matter of arranging the leaves. The 2 little colored leaves are from the same set as the greeting & I attached them w/ a small copper brad to the greeting panel.

Here are the fabric paints I used. The card was a bright yellow & I squeezed out some of both colors & used a hard rubber brayer to spread the paint evenly. It also gives a bit of a fun texture, almost like cloth.

This is just to show the difference between the painted bg & the metallic copper. The leaf on the left is the painted one & the one on the right is the metallic copper. To me, the painted leaf has more depth & richness.

    Thanks

  • Halloween Gnome

Posted on October 18, 2024 10:26 PM by Julie Comment

Today, I have a cute little gnome all dressed up for Halloween. He has an adorable little Jack O’Lantern & he’s standing under a lavender tree wite a misty purple forest behind him. This is easy to make and I’d love to show you how.

For the Inspiration Challenge (IC985) we are visiting Fine Art Canvas & their Pinterest Board. I came across THIS cute picture & used it for my inspiration.

My card started with the tree cover die which I cut out of a lt lavender card stock. For the background, I used a white piece and sponged it w/ a lt lavender ink then used a mask I made by die cutting one of the spooky forest layers out of copy paper. Using it as a mask, I sponged on some darker purple inks along w/ a medium blue ink. The center section was left white and I used green ink across the bottom. A spider web, spider, bats & a white crescent moon were attached to the background before the tree cover was added.

A layer of cardboard was added under the tree cover as well as behind the colored & die cut gnome. A Jack O’Lantern was also die cut & placed for him to hold.

Here are the Copics I used for the gnome:
