For my card, I made a Swinging Z-Fold  card. There is a tutorial for this HERE. My card started as a 4.5 x 12 piece of vanilla Bazzill. I made the main card fold 6 1/8 inches from the right side and the Z fold 2 7/8 inches from the left side.  I added a red piece of dp to the left and a turquoise piece on the right. Per the tutorial, I opened the fold and die cut half of the ornament thru the left front. For the ornament itself, on coordinating dp, I stamped and embossed the ornament image then die cut using the new Spellbinders 2011 Heirloom Ornament die. With a craft knife, I cut out little openings inside the embossing.  I stamped another ornament on a patterned piece of the dp and placed the patterned ornament behind the embossed one and attached it on top of the half ornament cut in the card.

Though technically the top pic is the front, if you unfold the left, it looks a little plain. So to dress it up a little, I attached a frame left from die cutting the patterned ornament . I also added a few pine bough images in a couple of the corners.

On the inside, I added a smaller ornament w/ the greeting on the backside of the large ornament.

  • Snowman Ornament

Very cool combo challenge on Splitcoast today (CC346)! I like it for winter cards. I had to use as close a clone as I could come to the razzleberry so mine may be a little on the purple side.

All images are sneak peeks of new Our Daily Bread designs images to be released 11/1/11! Now the snowman scene wasn’t specifically designed to go w/ the new Spellbinders ornaments, but I think it fits nicely and I like the snowman a little out of the box. The scene was colored w/ markers then I added some stickles on top for snow sparkle.

The white was embossed w/ snowflake ef and since it’s a one sided embossing, I was able to add the sentiment in the lower right. The ribbon was originally pink w/ silver flakes, but I used markers to make it match. The card measures 4.25 x 5.50.

  • Star Ornament

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/

Congrats to Deb Saaranen, the Featured Stamper (FS246) on Splitcoast today! I first met Deb in June/July 2009, her last month on the SCS Dirty Dozen and my first month there. We were also together on the Our Daily Bread designs DT in 2010. She has such a wonderful gallery and I chose her Memorial Day Poppy  to case. I kept similar colors and layout, but made mine a Christmas card, used different images and used punched bands instead of the flourishy dp Deb used. I also added a bow instead of a flower.

All images are Our Daily Bread designs.  For my version, I used 2 polka dot papers and one solid dp. On the center, dk bg polka dot dp, I added 3 punched bands across the center. The sentiment was die cut using a Spellbinders rectangle and a  Nestie resizing techinique I developed to make it smaller to fit the sentiment. It’s attached to a ribbon tag die cut. The star was stamped w/ white pigment ink and die cut using the new compatible Holiday Tags dies. The center panel has narrow bands on top and bottom before it  was attached to the larger polka dot dp. the finished card is 5.5 x 4.25.
