  • Bright Floral

Posted on April 25, 2025 9:52 PM by Julie Comment

This new flower cover die is so beautiful! I couldn’t wait to use it. It’s not at all hard, it just takes some color blending & paper piecing. And I do have a hint for making that a little easier. It’s also great for a lot of different occasions. Birthday, for a friend, Mother’s Day, Congrats, Graduation..just change the greeting and/or the colors to suit your needs.

For the Inspiration Challenge IC1012 we are visiting Street Angles & their Pinterest Boards. THIS dress was my inspiration. I liked the bright reddish/pink flowers & green/teal leaves.

To make my card, I die cut the floral cover once out of heavy white card & once out of cardboard & glued the two frames together. Here’s my tip for making the coloring & paper piecing. I took another piece of heavy white card, placed the cover die on top then embossed it only, but did not cut it. This embossed version is easy to see the pieces I want to color. I used the detail set of blending brushes & several reds, pink, greens & teals ink. I should have taken a pic when I did this, but I forgot. When finished w/ the color blending, I put the die back on top & cut it, but didn’t take it all apart. Then I picked the individual pieces from the colored version & placed them inside the white frame. Here’s a picture of the two when I finished the piecing. I’ll save the colored frame for another card.

Then I picked out a greeting & popped it up just a bit. The pieced cover was attached to a teal background.

    Thanks
    so much for stopping by!

  • Hot Hello

Posted on April 19, 2025 10:02 PM by Julie Comment

    X3 !
Today, I have a fairly easy floral hello card in hot, hot colors. Like full on summer heat wave! The combo of pink, yellow & orange really sets this on fire. The same colors used on the background were also used for the flowers, but switch up the hot colors for cool colors & you’ll have a very serene look.

It’s my turn to host the Featured Stamper Challenge FS950, so a big congrats to Carol! She has a wonderful gallery & I chose THIS card to case. I kept the hot colors & floral theme, but I used different dies, left off a panel & used a die instead of the embossing folder for the background.

To make my card, I picked out some hot summer colors of ink & a few dies. I started by using big blending brushes & the yellow, pinks & reds over a 4.25 x 5.50 piece of white card. When dry (it had a lot of ink on it), I die cut it w/ the Quilted Stitch cover die to give it a little more interest. I wanted a little more white around the edges, so I trimmed it down a bit using the largest plain rectangle die. For the flowers, I used the same ink on another panel, but blended them on in strips & also added an area of green for the leaves & stems. Then the flowers were die cut out of this panel. The flowers were shaped a bit before attaching to the stems & finally the front panel. Hello was die cut using the Vintage Alphabet die & the Friend was part of a larger greeting. After die cutting it, I trimmed off the upper part to just leave “Friend”.

    Thanks

  • Blue Flower Day

Posted on April 17, 2025 10:03 PM by Julie Comment

    X5 !
A pretty, mostly monochromatic flower card featuring some beautiful new dies and a background made using die cuts as a stencil. Easy way to make everything match! Just pick your colors, die cut some flowers & use some of them as a stencil, and add a greeting.

For the Inspiration Challenge IC1011, we are visiting Amicreative & their Pinterest Boards where I was inspired by THIS picture. I liked the colors & floral print.

To make my card, I started by picking out the ink colors. These happen to be my favorite colors, so it was easy! The flowers & branches were all die cut out of white. I used detail blending brushes to add a little color in the centers before shaping them & attaching them all together. I knew I wasn’t going to have a printed paper to go with them, so I die cut a couple of large branches out of thin white card stock to use as stencils. After putting a little removable adhesive on the backs, I used the inks & some large blending brushes to brush ink around them. The branches were moved around on the background, so that some were left white & others were on top of ink already there. It gives them depth & interest this way.

Above is the background before I added everything on top. I picked a dk teal for the center & backing up the white dot dash frame. Then all the flowers, leaves & branches were arranged & a greeting was added.

    Thanks
    so much for stopping by!
