A flowery, all occasion card for a friend or relative featuring beautiful dies & paper w/ a short tutorial showing how I did the partial die cut edge.

A big congrats to Diane, the newest Featured Stamper (FS856)! She has a really lovely gallery & after much browsing, I chose THIS card to case. I loved the fancy lower edge & layout, so I kept those, but I used different dies, colors & papers.

For my card, I did something I don’t usually do..I picked the floral paper first & die cut it. I wanted to make sure it would stand out enough behind the top panel. Then I cut a smaller white panel & used an oval die to do a partial die cut edge.
    Here’s how I did that:

I placed the large stitched oval where I wanted the edge to be (shown above).

Then I placed the top plate over just the area I wanted to cut. (I’m using the Big Shot here so you can see it, above). The machine will only cut what the top plate covers.

All cut & turned out perfectly! Now I have the curved edge I wanted.

I then die cut the fancy oval & the envelope of flowers out of white & trimmed off what I wasn’t going to use. I placed the section of the fancy oval under the curved edge & the flowers/leave of the flower envelope I trimmed to fit on top. I cut some pieces of 2 different dusty pinks to place behind the 2 big flowers & 2 small buds. The greeting was stamped in black & heat embossed. I didn’t have the right color of gems, so I used a Copic marker (RV34) to color the clear stones. The greeting circles were popped up just a bit.

    Thanks

  • Just Because

a “just because” card for a birthday, get well or just to say hi. Features a blue butterfly & split panel circle w/ die cut holographic leaves & flowers.

A big congrats to Kathy, the newest Featured Stamper (FS852). She has a big , beautiful gallery & I chose THIS card to case. I liked the split panel circle in variegated shades & the butterfly w/ the die cut outline leaves, so I kept those. But I used different images, dies & colors & instead of gold I used holographic silver.

After I die cut the circle out of white, I laid strips of turquoise, teal & blue onto a piece of some Glad stick & seal wrap then die cut the same circle out of it. After peeling off the wrap, I cut the strips narrower to allow some white from the base circle to show through. The butterfly was colored w/ 3 Copics (BG07, BG10 & Bg23) & die cut. The leaves & flowers were die cut out of a silver holographic card stock & arranged under & on top of the circle.

I left most of the “insert” pieces inside the leaves just because. The circle was popped up w/ foam.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • Just Because Flowers

A slimline card w/ bright flowers on a quilted black background. Easy to make w/ lots of impact.

A big congrats to Barbara, the newest Featured Stamper (FS848)! She has a fantastic gallery & I chose THIS card to case. I kept the bright flowers on black & the slimline layout, but I used different images, dies & embossed a greeting instead of a die cut one.

My slimline card started w/ the black background. I die cut it using a quilted pattern piercing die then added it to a white background w/ a diamond patterned edge. The flowers are 2 part images: the outline & the solid insides. I used a combo of inks to add the colors inside the flowers. The small greeting was stamped in white on a little strip & heat embossed.

A few of the flowers were popped up for added dimension & I cut apart some of the flowers in order to move them closer together. Black stickies was added to the flower centers.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
