I’ve fallen a little behind on my posting & here are 2 cards I made for Dare to Get Dirty Challenges & also the Inspiration & Featured Stamper Challenges. For all the details of the DTGD challenges, go HERE…but you’ll need to be a Fan Club member.
This first one was for the Inspiration Challenge (IC662) &.THIS & THIS were my inspirations. I loved the palm trees in the first, and the colors in the second. And, I used a technique from TLC698, gel plate impressionism. Basically, you put a gel plate into your Misti, ink it up w/ Distress oxide inks, mist w/ alcohol (the rubbing kind, lol), stamp your image on top w/ dye ink, then place your card stock on top of the gel plate. So that’s what I did. The colors move around & mix a bit & the silhouette isn’t quite as sharp as it would be, but the overall look is pretty nice. After it dried, I added the seagulls & a little white highlighting on the palms. Here’s the inside.
Supplies:
Stamps: DRS Designs – Palm Tree Line , Seaside Dock , Sending Sunshine (inside: Sun Shine On You ) |
Paper: Staples 110# white |
Ink: Distress oxide inks peacock feathers, squeezed lemonade, worn lipstick, cracked pistachio, Memento tuxedo black |
Accessories: Misti, Lil’ Inker stitched rectangle dies, Gelli plate, white gel pen |
This card was for the Featured Stamper Challenge (FS601). I chose THIS to case. I kept the cactus in the desert theme, but I used different images, different colors & added a greeting. I also got a kick out of Beth’s description of her card.
To make my desert scene, I stamped the Cowboy Cactus, masked it, then stamped the Broken Flower Fence around it. Makes it kind of look like the cowboys are out fixing the fence & left a hat & rope on the cactus. After coloring everything, I die cut it w/ a wonky stitched rectangle then added some clouds & a sunflower for the sun rays. The greeting is part of the Western Word Square & I used a wonky circle die to cut it. Here’s the inside & next to it are the Copics I used.
Supplies:
Stamps: DRS Designs – Cowboy Cactus (new!), Broken Flower Fence , Western Word Square (inside: Saddle Up Greeting ) |
Paper: Staples 110# white |
Ink: Memento tuxedo black |
Accessories: Misti, Copic markers, Gina Marie wonky stitched rectangles & circles dies, Serendipity sunflower die, Spellbinders cloud dies |

For the Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast this week, I was inspired by THIS picture on the Plow & Hearth site Brenda chose. I turned the rain boots into cowboy boots & hydrangeas into roses, but otherwise they are the same, lol.
What a week it’s been around here..we’ve had so much rain & thunderstorms, I’m really glad now that I bought a pair of rubber rain boots. Every night I have to slosh thru the front yard to bring in the bird feeders. If I don’t, then I have to spend a couple of hours searching thru the woods for them because the raccoons will get them & drag them off into the woods (ask me how I know). Then I slosh thru the yard every morning to put them back. I also don’t want the bear that got into everyone’s trash a couple of week ago to come down the drive after the feeders. But my rain boots, while they have roses on them, are nowhere as stylin’ as these!
To make my card, I stamped the big rose, masked it, then stamped the smaller one twice. After masking the roses, I stamped the (new!) boot, masked it, then stamped the one behind it. Everything was colored, then I did a little out of the box when I die cut the panel. The greeting was stamped & colored & I added a die cut swirly (it reminded me of a lasso) & a fussy cut hat (new!). Then I added glitter glue & a few crystals.
Here’s a look at the inside & below it are the Copics I used.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

A big congrats to Donna, the newest Featured Stamper (FS498) on Splitcoast! I didn’t have to go far to find THIS card to case (copy & share everything). I kept the shaker card & most of the colors & layout, but I used different images, a star shaped shaker instead of a round one, & used a cowboy/southwest theme on mine.
For my star shaker, I started by stamping the cowboy/cowgirl accessories image, coloring w/ Copics, then I did a little into the window to keep from cutting off the top of the boots when I die cut the stitched star opening. I made a larger star shaped pouch out of a page protector, sealed the edges but leaving one edge open, filled it w/ sequins, stars & little punched cowboy boots, then sealed the remaining edge. After attaching the shaker pouch behind the opening, I added foam tape all behind the panel & attached it to another white back panel. A couple of narrow frames (one brown, one turquoise) were added behind it before attaching to the card. The Howdy was die cut & I used some of the same Copics to color it to match.
Here’s the inside & below it are the Copics I used.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
