Splitcoaststampers Dare to Get Dirty 2017!

Today is Day 1 of Splitcoaststampers Dare to Get Dirty Challenges! And I made this for my challenge & for all the details of the challenge, go HERE…but you’ll need to be a Fan Club member. That’s easy!
To make my celestial birthday card, I used water color paper to make a Wrinkle Free Distress background using Distress Oxide inks. When it dried, I used a couple of stencils & lightly sponged just a little pattern here & there. Then I stamped just the border of the Rainbow Safari image around the edges then used a paintbrush and a little of oxide ink to paint half of the leaves. The Sister Sun image was stamped & colored w/ Copics. I used a circle die & did a little out of the box to keep the sun rays intact. The little greeting strip was added underneath the cut off section on the right.

Blue Raspberry Popsicle

A big congrats to Mandi, the newest Featured Stamper (FS496) on Splitcoast! She has such a lovely gallery & I chose THIS to case. I kept the layout & color combo, but used different images, different dies & made mine a summer card instead of Christmas. This is also for Kathleen’s Dare to Get Dirty Challenge. To make my popsicle card, I started w/ a piece of embossing folder stamped background & used part of it for my bottom section. Instead of inking the embossing folder, I sprayed it w/ several colors of shine sprays then closed the folder on a piece of white card stock. It wasn’t embossed, so it’s still flat. I used a curved border to cut the top section. After I put the two sections together they were embossed w/ progressively smaller sizes of the set of pierced rectangles dies. Only the largest layer was actually die cut..all the smaller ones were only embossed.

The popsicle was stamped, colored w/ Copics, over stamped w/ Versafine (to bring back the details) then fussy cut. I added some Wink of Stella on it for a little sparkle. The fuchsia borders were colored w/ Copics to match because I didn’t have any card stock to match. The greeting was stamped using the lilac posies ink.

Birthday Cityscape – Dare to Get Dirty

This was made for Lydia’s Dare To Get Dirty challenge on Splitcoast & we’d love for you to join in so for all the details go to the Dare to Get Dirty Forum ..but you’ll need to be a Fan Club member. It’s sooooo easy! You still have a little time to enter the challenges, but this is last challenge on the last day of DTGD16.

This card looks simple, but it was off the charts aggravating! I was having one of THOSE days. I dropped or lost most everything I touched. And for the life of me, I can’t figure out why my supplies want to hide. When I drop them in the middle of the floor, they will scoot or shoot half way across a room to get under a piece of furniture like they’re sliding into home! And this requires getting down on my knees w/ a flashlight & long stick (yes I have one just for this purpose) to retrieve them. Dies are the worst..they are the same color as the hardwood floor..& they require the magnet extension on my screwdriver. I had to carry around so many retrieval tools, I felt like a vacuum cleaner w/ full attachments.

Anyway, the scene was stamped across the blank spot in an Embossing Folder Stamped piece. I didn’t like the way the stamped embossing folder piece turned out so the white topper covered it all up, lol. I also stamped the scene on the white then added a little mitre cornered frame around it. The black zigzag was die cut, the greeting & sequins added.
