For my card today, I’m using this super cute Baby Elephant and You Make Me Happy circle greeting. After coloring & fussy cutting the baby ellie, I figured out how to work out the (mostly flat) shaker pouch on the side for my sequin mix. I read about a fancy tool to seal pouches like this (reminds me of my seal a meal, but looks like a stencil cutter). Since I don’t happen to have one and I needed one right this minute, I subbed a bit. Let me show you a few pics that hopefully will explain.
    Happy Ellie back 05845
This is the back side of the largest white layer. I started by die cutting all my layers using the matting basics & pierced rectangles. After penciling in where my side opening would be, I used part of a curved die to cut it. Actually, to make sure all the pieces would be cut the same, I used temporary tape to line them up and cut them as one.  For the pouch, I cut a triangular piece from the folded edge of a page protector…sort of like cutting a pattern on the fold. Double sided tape was applied between the protector layers on the top part (to close it), I filled it w/ sequins, then added another strip of tape at the bottom to close the pouch and attached it to the back side of my largest layer as shown.

This is the same piece from the front side.
    Happy Ellie front together 05850
And how they look all stacked together. That’s the curved die I used to cut the side opening. All that was left was to attach everything to the card, add my circle cut greeting and a few die cut clouds. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used.

I made this for today’s Color Challenge (CC521) on Splitcoast. The colors are Lagoon, Pear, Daffodil & Strawberry with the dessert option of using some kind of flowers (other than stamped). So I’m in for the dessert this time. As usual, since the colors are SU and I don’t have them, I subbed using Distress Inks that are very close.
    Flower Note 05862
For my background, I’m using one image from the Retro Starburst Cling Set. Check them out, they are really fun! Using a piece of paper cut to size & a die cut circle piece, I determined where on the card front I wanted my image to be. When I had that worked out, I die cut the top panel w/ the Spellbinders pierced rectangle then used a circle & a pierced circle die to cut my circles. I stamped the retro line circle inside each cut out using the 3 Distress inks. The greeting was a little too long, so I masked part of it out and rearranged the rest.  Then I die cut & punched all my flower parts, sponged some w/ ink, put them all together and attached to my card.

I used a little frame and a leftover flower on the inside.

Welcome to the March Challenge for Serendipity Stamps! This month the challenge is Spring Fever! You can get all the details over on the Serendipity Challenge Blog.  For the Design Team, we have the added challenge of making a St. Patrick’s Day card.  And as always, we have a  have a gift certificate up for grabs to a random player.
    St Paddys Owl 05803
My card today is a little simpler than normal and the finished project has very little in common with my original idea. Everything except the little green owl with hat was pretty much reworked. Sometimes you gotta go where you gotta go. After I colored & fussy cut the little owl, I made a hat for him using a couple of punches. For the hat, I used a long neck vase punch, then cut off the vase part. Another cut was made below the curve & I turned the strip around to make a hat brim and added a yellow strip for the band. A clover punch was used for the 4 leaf clover addition.

I added a big yellow sun/moon behind the owl, the greeting in the lower right and a couple of die cut corners to balance things out. These are the Copics I used.

And here’s a look at the inside with a leftover frame and a second owl I fussy cut. He was a test drive for the colors on the other owl and I didn’t want him to be left out 🙂
