  • Peony on Lattice

Posted on June 26, 2021 10:41 PM by Julie Comment

Congrats to Angie, the newest Featured Stamper (FS751) on Splitcoast! She has a beautiful gallery & I chose THIS card to case. I kept the colored bg w/ the lattice die cut on top & the flower in the corner, but I used different images & dies, different colors & a stamped flower instead of a die cut flower.

For my card, I used a brayer & a rainbow pad to create my bg & I used a slimline lattice die for the cover. Instead of cutting it lengthwise, I turned it sideways & cut 2 short pieces to put side by side, horizontally. I knew the greeting strip would cover the join, so I didn’t even worry about that. The sides were trimmed down a bit to fit & I added a lime green layer behind it. The peony was half die cut/half fussy cut, using my out of the box method.

Here are the Copics I used on the peony:

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Such a lovely site for the Splitcoast Inspiration Challenge! After much window shopping, I chose THIS picture for my inspiration. My colors ended up being a little more blue than green, but that’s how it goes sometimes.

For my card, I stamped the lovely poppies onto 3 slightly different shades of teal using teal ink. I colored them all w/ the same Prismacolor pencils then die cut w/ the matching die. The background was done on glossy card & I stamped a bunch of different Birthday greetings w/ clear resist ink then brayered over it w/ a Kaliedacolor rainbow ink pad. I spattered it a little w/ wet paintbrush then dabbed off the water drops. The resist images were very easy to see at first (you can see it in the pic w/ the Prismas, below), but by the next day when I took the rest of the pics, the words had just about faded into the bg & only the water splats remained. I used a circle &  a rectangle frame to give my image & bg a little punch then added the die cut greeting. It actually says Wishes but I trimmed off the es.

Here’s the inside & below it are the Prismas I used.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • Easter Egg Greetings

Posted on April 1, 2018 9:44 AM by Julie 1 Comment

Happy Easter! And a big congrats to Jayne, the newest Featured Stamper (FS582) on Splitcoast! She has a lovely little gallery & I chose THIS to case. I kept the bright reddish/orange bg w/ large central image, but I used different images, different die cuts & made mine an Easter card.

For my Easter card, I made a background using distress oxide & regular distress inks by brayering the inks onto white.  On top of this, I also stamped the Brick Wall  w/ water. It’s not real noticeable, but it does add a nice textural look, especially on the darker part at the bottom. Then the Pussywillow image was stamped w/ gray ink & I added a little white Prismacolor pencil to the buds.

Here’s a look at the inside.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a Happy Easter & a great weekend!
