  • Starry Christmas Wreath

Posted on October 11, 2019 9:12 PM by Julie Comment

For the Inspiration Challenge we’re headed across the pond to a lovely site. I chose THIS for my inspiration.

My card today took way longer that I planned on spending but that’s how it goes sometimes. I wanted a twig wreath w/ stars on it but I wanted them to be a silver/gold mix & look a little rustic. The stars were pretty easy. I die cut them then covered them w/ a mix of silver ink on the inside & gold ink around the edges then sprinkled on 2 different embossing powders. One is a gilded gold (mostly clear w/ gold flecks) & the other was a stardust powder (mostly clear w/ little sparkles & a hint of silver). I did the same for the grosgrain ribbon die & bow die cut. On the wreath, I die cut it out of brown then used the same gold ep just in places here & there. Then part that took too long happened because I thought w/ the open area in the center, why not make it a shaker? But the sequins looked too bright & shiny. So I did the embossing again on a piece of ivory & die cut the sequins using a sequin die. Big trouble! Most the embossing flaked right off. So….I had piece sticker paper w/ most of the stickers gone & just the borders left. I peeled it off & stuck my sequins to the sticky side & embossed them again. That worked. I should have thought of that first! Then I put it all together & stamped half of the greeting on the front w/ Versa Clair nocturne & sprinkle the gilded gold powder on it & embossed it. You can see it in the close up but head on, it just looks black.

    Here’s the inside.

  • Fore You Shaker

Posted on April 14, 2017 10:15 AM by Julie 1 Comment

Today’s Free for All Challenge (F4A373) on Splitcoast is to have something w/ wheels. I used a cute little golf cart & made a shaker card with it.

To make my shaker, I die cut the white panel, put into my Misti, stamped the Golf Cart w/ Memento, colored w/ Copics, then over stamped w/ Versafine. I also did an extra of just the area behind the shaker. Then I used a craft knife to cut out that area on the top version. The shaker pouch is just part of a clear envelope..the kind embellishments or stickers come in. I put some sequins in it then closed it up around any open edges. I like using these clear envelopes because they don’t add a lot of bulk & are still mailable. I did add some foam tape around edges of the top panel to give the shaker just a bit of room.

Here’s a little tip for you..see the brown sequins? They were actually gold..I colored them w/ a dk brown Copic (a brown Sharpie also works). Yep. It works! I added a little pennant for the greeting since it wouldn’t fit anywhere else. The green bg was stamped w/ the green ink & the Everything Golf Bg image.

Here are the Copics I used.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Welcome to Day 12 of Tracey McNeely‘s 25 Days of Christmas Tags! I’m here representing Serendipity Stamps w/  an all die cut tag using their beautiful Ornament die along w/ some gorgeous snowflakes from their Snowflake Reverse die. This is also for Splitcoaststampers Featured Stamper Challenge (FS510). A big congrats to Jen! I chose THIS to case. I kept the gold & white w/ the gold glitter, but I made a Christmas tag instead of an Anniversary card & I used different papers & different dies.
    ornament-tag-00082
For my shiny tag, I die cut a white stitched rectangle then die cut the ornament in the center. Another ornament was die cut out of the gold mirror board & I fit into the opening and carefully attached it from the back side. Using the fuse tool, I made a little shaker pouch out of a cellophane bag & filled it w/ sequins & gold micro beads. A foam sheet was attached behind the ornament panel before the shaker pouch was added & the whole thing was attached to first a piece of gold glitter card stock, then to a larger piece of die cut patterned paper. The tag topper was made w/ a tag topper die but it was about half this size so I used my resizing technique to make it twice as big & added a strip of gold glitter c/s. All the little gold snowflakes were added along w/ the die cut Merry.
