  • Featured Stamper Hostess Farewell

    Birthday Butterflies Doily 04599
Today is a bittersweet day. We (the Featured Stamper Hostesses) are having to say goodbye to one of our own…Bridget Finlay. We are sad she is leaving, but we understand that Bridget has an important mission.

For this card, I chose THIS card of Bridget’s. I really love the contrast of the turquoise & peach and her perfect layout, so I kept those. For me, the real challenge of caseing Bridget is I don’t want to change a thing! But change I must, so I used different images, a doily die cut instead of the heart and I used a stamped, die cut butterfly instead of the punched one Bridget used.

I started with a die cut white panel, attached some drywall mesh and sponged on the tumbled glass ink in a random rather than solid manner, then added a little splatter w/ the same ink & a water brush. After die cutting the doily w/ peach, I cut it apart & reassembled it a little smaller to fit the area. The big butterfly was stamped on dp & die cut. I really loved the shiny little teal leaf embellies Bridget used, so I made mine out of aluminum foil glued to c/s, colored w/ Copics and die cut. For the flower, I used a Prima on top and punched a larger one to go underneath.

To make the greeting, I die cut the letters out of turquoise twice, stacked them on top of each for dimension & glued them in an up/down manner to mimic the wonderful die Bridget used. The pretty little flower on top of the big butterfly was a gift from my sweet friend, Sabrina

Because I could spend a lifetime caseing Bridget, I made a second card in her honor.
    Sew Special Day 04606
For my card, I cased THIS card of Bridget’s. I just love the bright colors and spools of thread. So I kept those, but I used different images/dies and made my own backgrounds.

The big solid doily image was stamped w/ the yellow ink on the large bg and partials of it were stamped w/ the other ink colors on the side strip. The little thread spools were stamped, colored & die cut & on two of them I trimmed away the measuring tape. After stamping the 2 greetings, I pierced around the edge, added a punched button border & some colorful buttons. These are the Copics I used.

  • From the Hive

    Beehive 03159
Another congrats to Nancy, the newest Featured Stamper (FS387)! Such a wonderful gallery and I had my eye on THIS card of Nancy’s. I kept the cute bee theme and colors, but I used different images, a different layout and omitted the sequins and banners.

After stamping the hive, bees & two greetings, I colored them with Copics and die cut the right edge then edged the whole panel with a bright yellow Permapaque marker. I stamped the honeycomb a few times down the right side of a black panel using white ink then added some small punched yellow circles in the center. I stamped one extra honeycomb, cut it out and added a little yellow button in the center. These are the Copics I used to color everything.

I’m pretty sure I should just call this the energizer bunny card. It just kept going & going & growing! With so much real estate on this layout, I never know when to stop adding things, which is really at odds with my need for a clean layout. For the basics…I cut a letter size piece of white card stock to 5.50 x 11. From the left side, I scored at 2″, 4.5″,  and 7″….so my separate panels measure (from left) 2″, 2.5″, 2.5″, and 4″. I used these sizes because when folded, it measures 4 x 5.50 so it will fit in an A2 envelope. When closed, it looks like the picture above. When open, it looks like the picture below.

    Geranium Accordion open 03922
I stamped and colored the Lg Geranium and Sm Geranium, then fussy cut the larger version for the front, die cut the smaller for the inside window. For the inside panels, I die cut larger frames, a bunch of the corner elements and frame elements from  Floral Frame & Embellishment dies. All of the backgrounds are panels I made by “stamping” with an embossing folder. I sprayed different colors of Heidi Swapp shine spray directly onto one side of an embossing folder, placed white card stock inside and pressed. I did not emboss these panels so they are completely flat but have the image of the folder on them. In real life, the sprays are so shimmery but so hard to capture with the camera.

The greeting was stamped on the largest Labels 28 on the last panel, die cut, and with the die still in place, I sponged on some Distress Ink spun sugar along the inside edges. The Serendipity die cut small butterfly and dragonfly were spritzed with the Heidi Swapp sprays and added to the two smaller inside panels.

These are the Copics I used.
