For the Splitcoast Inspiration Challenge (IC658), we are to chose a souvenir from our state or country. So I chose my home state of Texas since I have stamps for that state. And as everyone knows, Texans are pretty proud of their state. Remember the old saying...”Don’t ask a man if he’s from Texas. If he is, he’ll tell you. If he’s not, you’ll just embarrass him.” I was inspired by THIS postcard depicting the town where I grew up..though I was a little disappointed they spelled it wrong 😕Â
To make my Corpus Christi (aka: Sparkling City by the Sea) skyline card, I made a bg w/ Brushos then die cut the silhouette skyline. I used another skyline die that had a bridge (because Corpus has the big Bay Bridge) & added a piece of it to the right side. I also die cut the moon & stars & the Stars word to insert it into the greeting. The inside of the card has the “Deep in the Heart of Texas” part. Now all you fellow Texans (& a few who want to be, lol) will be singing that song. You’re welcome!!Â
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend, y’all!Â

A big congrats to Suzy, the newest Featured Stamper (FS585) on Splitcoast! She has a wonderful gallery & since she lives in Texas & I am from Texas, I couldn’t resist picking THIS card to case. She has a lot of Tx themed cards but I liked the Tx flag on the balloon so I kept that. I used different stamps & dies & put my Tx flag on a punch out of the state outline.
This card turned out to be a little trickier than I thought it would. Mostly because the big Hot Air Balloons bg die actually has a very large balloon in the lower left that I didn’t want to be there. So I had to die cut it pretty carefully using a smaller top plate to avoid cutting it out. A tiny bit of it did start to cut so I covered it up by die cutting a small cloud in that area (just to right of her face). I also die cut a lt blue layer & lined it up a little off to shadow the white. The right balloon has a colored Tx state punch under it. The little cowgirl was done separately & fussy cut around the top & sides to go on top.
Here’s a look at the inside & below it are the Copics I used.

A big congrats to Bronwyn, the newest Featured Stamper (FS578) on Splitcoast! She has a wonderful gallery and after much browsing, I chose THIS to case. I kept the colors & layout but her little boy became the state of Texas and I changed the triangular spinner to a word art thingie (per the Technique Challenge TLC679) & instead of white stitch lines I used a barbed wire border.
I did the lines & coloring for the word art for the die cut Howdy per the Technique Challenge then colored the die cut Texas shape & did my best to match up the lower end of the point convergence & added a star at that point. The lt blue was dry embossed then I made a border using a barbed wire die.Â
