Congrats to Jeanne, the newest Featured Stamper (FS651) on Splitcoast! Jeanne does a lot of watercolor, so I dug thru my watercolor backgrounds for my card. I was inspired by THIS card because I like the hot air balloon theme. So I kept that but I used different images, different colors & made mine a birthday card.
I had just enough of a left over watercolor bg in the pinks/purples to stamp & fussy cut my hot air balloons. I added just a little white pencil on the zigzag lines. The green/yellow bg was one of those that didn’t really work when I made it. So I tried a technique (from one of Lydia’s Challenge last year) where you take a fine line pen & outline all of the watercolor sections. She called it Topographic Watercolor. I was surprised how much it improved the look of it & how I liked it behind the balloons. You just never know when a “fail” will work out in the future.

It’s my turn & my pleasure to host the Splitcoast Featured Stamper Challenge (FS645). So a big congrats to Michelle! She has a lovely gallery & after browsing her entire gallery, I kept coming back to THIS. I kept the Hot Air Balloon theme & layout, but I used dies instead of a stamp, different colors & a shaving cream bg instead of a watercolor bg.
My version is pretty simple..I sponged a white piece of c/s w/ yellow & orange Distress inks, then die cut one of just the yellow for the outline & the inserts out of the red/orange part. The greeting was white embossed on black & the sky circle is a remnant piece of shaving cream bg.
Here’s the inside. I used the negatives of the balloon & clouds as a stencil to sponge thru them.

A big congrats to Sunny, the newest Featured Stamper (FS631)! She has a small, but gorgeous gallery. After strolling around for awhile, I chose THIS to case. I kept the houses & hot air balloon, but used different dies & stamped instead of die cut houses & used a die cut greeting.
After adding just a little color & fussy cutting the row of house, I die cut the trees, balloon, clouds, grass & greeting out of white. The trees & grass were colored & I found a piece of watercolor bg for the balloon & die cut it again to add the inserts. The Hi is actually from a Hugs die but I trimmed it to get what you see.
Here’s the inside & below it are the Copics I used.
