  • Floral Oval Birthday

Let me begin by apologizing if you received a blizzard of post notifications today. The app I use was broken & after 4 days of trying to fix it, they finally got it  working a bit too well. It sent all the the queued posts at once. So sorry about that!

Today I have a card with big impact but fairly easy to make. Just pick your colors, find a background then start die cutting. In fact all you need is 2 sets of dies and which ever paper you choose.

For the Inspiration Challenge IC1054 we are visiting Anthropologie & their Pinterest Board where I found THIS platter to use for inspiration.

To make my card I pulled out a piece of cobalt blue card stock to use as the main color. I cut it just slightly smaller than the A2 card then used one of the larger scallop ovals to cut out the center. I cut two more borders to inside it. Another piece of the blue was used to cut the floral die & placed it behind the frames. Then I searched my stash for something with the blues & greens I wanted to use. I came across this shaving cream background with just the right colors. (See pic below)

After placing the background behind floral die cut, I cut a band of the cobalt to go on top. I knew the Happy Birthday cutout that usually goes in the blank band of the die cut would not fit w/ the frames covering it, so I used a separate band for this then attached a slightly larger white band behind it.

    Thanks
    so much for stopping by!

This card features a new Safari Animals die set that I just love.  It will be easy to make all occasions of cards with this set. The variations are endless. Cut them out of black and use a brayered background, cut them out of patterned paper & use a plain background, or use the animals individually in bright colors for a zoo animal themed kid’s birthday card.

Since it’s the 5th week for the Featured Stamper Challenge FS982, we are revisiting some previous FS Galleries. This time we are to choose from FS71-FS99. I chose THIS card from FS81 kokirose. I kept the safari theme but used dies instead of stamps, a shaving cream bg instead of a blended scene, & made mine A2 instead of slimline.

I envisioned an all white silhouette card, so I die cut the animals & trees out of heavy white & attached them to white cardboard die cuts. Since they were all white, I went through my already made backgrounds & found this shaving cream bg & the colors looked right to me. I cut it to fit the card front, then cut out the center. I used a large oval to cut the piece behind the animals then created a white frame to go on top. The largest rectangle was used to cut the frame then a slightly larger oval was used to cut out the inside. The frame was popped up 2 layers to elevate it from the shaving cream oval. The greeting was stamped & all the elements added on top. A small circle was cut out of the orange area of the left over bg, & used as a small sun in the upper left.

  • Teal Birthday

This birthday card is clean and simple, easy to make and would work well for a man as well as a woman. The leafy texture frame adds so much interest, you don’t need much of anything else. As a suggestion, I’d pick a background that wasn’t too busy to go under it.

For the Inspiration Challenge IC994, we are visiting Levtex Home & their Pinterest Boards. THIS pillow was my inspiration. I liked the color combo of a dk teal & pale yellow & the interesting pattern.

My card is pretty easy. I die cut the leafy texture cover & wording out of a textured dk teal. After attaching it to card board, I looked around for a suitable background. I found a barely patterned shaving cream background on a pale yellow card stock & liked the way it looked. The backing for the greeting die was cut out of the same pale yellow. Since there’s so much going on in the cover die, I opted to keep everything else simple & only added some gems here & there.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
