I’m using one of the wonderful, moving sentiments and frame from the Eternity set along with the beautiful Tulip Corners. I’ve always loved this quote and I still get chills every time I read it. The frames and tulips were all gold embossed. The frame was embossed twice on vanilla colored vellum with the quote stamped inside one with black ink then both were die cut using 2 sizes of the exclusive ODBD/Spellbinders matching Eternity Labels One die. I layered the smaller vellum label (the one with the quote) on top of a piece of white to brighten it a bit, then used a gold leaf pen to edge the labels.

[TIP: if you stamp an image like this quote on vellum and it doesn’t appear as dark as you’d like, stamp it again on white paper. Line up and attach the vellum image on top of the white image and trim the white so the edges don’t stick out. Instantly brighter with darker type!]

The tulips were all colored using markers and a water brush and cut out. After arranging my many layers (yes there are 5 not counting the card front or quote labels), I attached the quote and arranged the tulips around it.  The finished card measures 6.5 x 5 (A6).

  • View of the Lake FS183

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/

Congrats to Vicki, today’s Featured Stamper at SCS! I chose her Beach Vacation to case. I kept the same colors and water scene theme but chose a different stamp set and different layout.

I just love this beautiful lake view scene! The first idea that came to me was sort of a window/frame looking in to the center of the picture and this is pretty much as I pictured it. On water color paper, I black embossed the scene twice and used a paint brush, water and dye reinkers to paint both scenes. I added more color details with markers. I placed a template of  one of the Spellbinders Labels 8 in the center of one scene and traced it with a pencil. I determined which elements to cut around with a craft knife so they would be on the top frame. It was a bit of a challenge and took my out of the box Nestie technique to a new level, lol.

I cut the 5.5 x 4.25 white card with the largest of the Labels 8 dies and used the in between size to cut the brown mat. I used the end of the die to cut the embossed sentiment. (You can actually see the entire sentiment when viewed from straight on, but this angle cuts some of it off.)

Thanks so much for stopping by! Your comments are always read and much appreciated.

  • Winter Eve – DRS Sneak Peek!

    Weekly-Favorite
    Best of 2010

The forecast for Atlanta today calls for a chance of snow! I don’t think we’ll have as much as pictured in my scene, but here’s hoping! I’d love for you to sled on over to the DRS blog and check out my Winter Eve.

I knew I wanted a circular frame and a little bit of the out-of-the-box treatment, so I figured out where my image needed to be and stamped the Tree with Snow, masking off the fence portion. I kept the circle frame mask on, added a smaller circle mask for the moon and sponged on the sky colors. I used the blank embossing technique to emboss the flurries pattern on the side and leave the image area smooth. I used a circle die set to cut the pink frame and a template to cut the blue frame. I added the cut out portion of the fence on top. Stickles was added to the snow and a die cut sentiment finished it off.
