For the Color Challenge on Splitcoast (CC793) today, we have 2 blues & a red. Perfect colors for a Patriotic card!
I’m using a new soldiers silhouette image. I know these will look great as a dark silhouette, but I wanted to see how they’d look if I used another (inked) image to ink them. It’s an old technique called “stamp kissing“. I used the stars & stripes border to ink the silhouettes (I put them in my Misti so I could do it more than once). I like how they turned out..as if they’re draped in the stars & stripes. I separated the greeting, above & below, & used the same inks to stamp them. The piece down the side is a piece of sticky back paper w/ red, white & blue narrow strips stuck to it. The lower section has stars stamped w/ white. Just to add a little something extra, I also punched some stars & added them to the soldiers & also a couple on the bg.
On the inside I stamped the stars & stripe border onto a sort of triangular piece & added it down the left side.

Congrats to Joanne, the newest Featured Stamper (FS642) on Splitcoast! She has a wonderful gallery & I was inspired by THIS patriotic card. I kept the Freedom theme & flag, but I used different stamps, different dies & changed the layout. And this Memorial Day, please take a moment to remember & give thanks to those that gave their lives to ensure our freedom.
For my card, I stamped the patriotic wave, multiple times (to get good coverage). A Misti is really handy for solid images like this. Since the ink I used isn’t technically for use w/ Copics, I heat set it then carefully colored in the red stripe & fussy cut the top edge. I did the same for the big heart shaped flag image. The cityscape & USA were die cut & I had to link the letters because I ran out of room to stretch them out. The greeting is 2 put together & I used a corner rounder on the rectangle.
Here’s the inside & below it are the Copics I used.

Today’s CAS Challenge (clean & simple) CAS330, has us using stars &/or stripes. I used both plus anchors for my Patriotic Military card.
And this really was quick & easy because almost all of it was made using die cuts I already had sitting around. I only stamped 3 images, colored 2 and fussy cut the anchor. The little square frame w/ the pierced circle was already there along w/ the little red ring so I added a smaller die cut circle w/ the US Navy emblem stamped in denim. The anchor & USA were lightly colored & added to a bg I embossed w/ a small anchor pattern. The inside has the rest of the USA greeting & says “Home of the Free Thanks to Our Brave”. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used (not many).
Thanks so much for stopping by! If you haven’t ck out the DRS Thursday Challenge – this week it’s a color challenge w/ Patriotic/Nautical colors & DRS images are not required!
