Happy New Year! Welcome to the January Our Daily Bread designs Release “Taking a Leap of Faith” Blog Hop!

If you arrived here from the ODBD Blog then you are in the right place! If not you should go to the Our Daily Bread designs Blog to start from the beginning so you don’t miss anything! The Hop will run from 8am Eastern Jan. 1 to 8pm Jan 2. The winners will be announced on the ODBD Blog on Jan. 3. There will be 5 prizes. Kelley has very generously offered to give five prizes of YOUR CHOICE of one set!!! The prizes are hidden on various blogs along the hop, so it is important that you visit and comment on each one!

The hardest part of my card was taking a picture of it, lol. With all the metallic/mirror finish card stock and glittery bling, my camera really wigged out on most of the pics.  I don’t usually do a lot of glittery metallics, but New Year’s is a perfect time to bring on the bling! And it was a lot fun, as well. All of the glittery fronds, the ribbon and even the houndstooth mirror card stock came from the Christmas clearance isles at Michael’s. The silver card stock for the butterfly and sentiment is a recycled/repurposed foil lid from a container. I stamped them with Stazon and on the butterfly, added a touch of color with some Sharpies. It was cut with the matching butterfly die available only at ODBD.

On the sentiment, I used a Spellbinders circle die and my brand new Grand Calibur. What a wonderful machine! I added the fronds and a bow then arranged the layers on a lavender 5.5 x 4.25 card.

Depending on where you live Fall may or may not be part of your season, yet, imagine all the possibilities with this lovely image. How about blending various mediums on your craft sheet and created a unique background? Fall is Near simply, allows your creativity to flow! Fall is Near, lovely as a card or consider putting it in a frame! With Christmas right around the corner, can be used as a manly gift for that special someone in your life!

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/

For my card, I stamped the image with permanent black ink onto watercolor paper.  I used a combination of reinkers and markers to watercolor the image. Highlights were added with a white gel pen.  The lt blue frame was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder and I cut the inside out and attached over the image.  The embossing was highlighted with a white Permapaque pen. Two butterflies were colored, cut out and attached. I used markers directly on the sentiment image before stamping. I added a little outline with a dark  blue gel pen.

  • ISC June Release Day 4

Ever find yourself in awe of Butterflies?

Take Flight, is just mesmerizing, it was designed to give your project or card a 3D effect! We were encouraged by Betsy to use the wooden-frame from ISC Fruitful sheet or create our own on the design below.

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/

Isn’t this a beautiful image? I love the tree trunk with all the butterflies and it fits so perfectly inside the frame. After stamping the image, I colored it with a combination of reinkers and markers. I stamped the butterflies again, colored them, cut them out and attached them on top of the originals with foam tape under one wing for a little lift. The frame was done on a separate piece of c/s, colored the same way and cut out. I wanted the picture to be a little recessed so I  made two more card board frames, cut them out and attached my frame on top.

For the teal half layer, I stamped it with the Canvas Background and the calypso ink. For the lt green layer, I used a cuttlebug folder first, then stamped Little Specks background with leaf ink. Since it was already embossed, the image is mostly on the raised portions only. After cutting out the sentiment with an oval die, I attached it to two pieces I cut using one element of the Symbology 1 die. I used markers to edge all the layers.
