• It’s Official! I’m one of the SCS Dirty Dozen!!

Can you believe it? I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. I’m so honored to be a part of the Design Team for Splitcoaststampers. With all the amazing talent, past and present,  of the Dirty Dozen, those are some mighty big shoes to fill.

Here’s a little sneak peek of one of my entries in the July gallery. Our theme this month is “Tropical Paradise”. Anything tropical, underwater, beach, etc related. I had so much fun with this! I hope y’all are SCS Fan Club members because you don’t want to miss this gallery and you’ll have to be a FC member to view it. It’s just one of the many perks of joining the FC.Best Fishes close up 2934ac

I also want to say CONGRATS to Jami Bova, who is my 6 month “room mate” on the SCS DD. And a huge thanks to Jenn Balcer for the DD invitation, getting all the ducks in a row and holding our hands. And all the DD team, thanks for your help!

  • DDIC4 My Little Chickadees

It’s time again for our Divine Divas Inspiration Challenge! This week, Lori chose some beautiful plates from Acacia.

(I’m also combining this w/ SCS Sketch Challenge.)

I love birds and I knew I had just the right chickadees image from Sparkle N Sprinkle. I stamped them with the chocolate ink and colored them with Prismacolor pencils. I used the Out of the Box Nestie technique (tutorial HERE) to cut them out, but I used a nesting rectangle set from Quickutz. Masking the birds, I sponged on a little of the Neptune ink.

After matting on a chocolate brown layer, I tried something a little different on the white layer. Recently, I tried embossing card stock using a piece of plastic canvas. I liked it so I tried it with a piece of finer mesh vinyl (sold for cross stitch bookmarks). First I lightly misted a piece of white card stock, placed it on the Spellbinders tan embossing mat, placed the vinyl mesh on top and ran it through my Sizzix. I love how it turned out! It looks and feels just like artist canvas. I left the small piece white but on another, I brayered over it with the Neptune ink, stamped my feathers background (Anita’s/Sugarloaf) w/ the chocolate ink and colored them in w/ markers.

The green bg was done w/ the forest branches Cuttlebug folder. I added some punched out circles as faux brads.

Thanks so much for looking and please visit the rest of the Divine Diva Team. We would really love for y’all to play along in our challenge. Lori is offering some terrific blog candy for this challenge.

  • Party Dress

I didn’t have a chance to do Saturday’s Inspiration challenge at SCS until today. But I really needed a birthday card for a little girl and I knew when I saw this Party Dress and remembered the template from Paper Craft Mag’s website, that this was the card I wanted to make.

I printed out the pattern, then enlarged to 108% and cut one on white 12 x 4.5 c/s (folded in half lengthwise). I cut another front only out of the dp. Then I cut an apron out of vellum and ran it thru the CB w/ the Swiss dots folder. I used a white Permopaque marker around the edges.

I cut a narrow band out of white and used the mini scallop scissors on top and bottom. I placed this behind the vellum then attached ribbon on top. That stupid little bow took me over half an hour to tie. I think I’ve mentioned before, I suffer from SRD (severe ribbon dysfunction).

The bottom of the card also has a mini scallop border. I attached the apron/ribbon to the dp dress then attached this to the card. I made a little collar w/ the mini scallop scissors and pierced around the edge then attached it to my dress. Drops of liquid pearls were added as buttons.

    Stamps: none
Paper: white, vellum, dp (Making Memories)
    Ink: none
Accessories: cb swiss dots folder, ribbon, liquid pearls, mini scallop scissors, piercing tool, dress template from Paper Crafts Mag., white Permopaque marker
