    BEST OF 2013!

Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread designs December Release. Don’t you love these fabulous frames and matching dies? And there are so many wonderful greetings for so many occasions.

For my colorful card, I decided to use the corner image to make a sort of kaleidoscope type design. I used a stamp positioner to make the central 4 square image and to match it up on the corners.I colored everything with Copics and die cut w/ a large square. I used the beautiful corner dies in blue to frame the square and the insides were trimmed off and used to frame the sentiment. A black micron pen was used to make the little dots around the design. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used.Birthday Kaleidascope copics 02461

  • Gingerbread Tag

Weekly-FavoriteToday’s Ways to Use It Challenge (WT458) is to make a tag. It is optional to use the tag on card or other project. I chose to stamp my greeting and two lines of the chevron image on my die cut tag. Three little gingerbread men were colored and fussy cut. I trimmed off the bottom edge of the front and stamped two of the solid chevrons across the inside. I used a chevron die to cut two zig zag borders out of red and attached on the inside & outside edges of the cut off front. I tied some baker’s twine thru the tag and edged it w/ red. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used.

  • Serendipity SSCB #26 -Chalk

    Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com
Weekly-FavoriteWelcome to a new challenge for  Serendipity Stamps! The Serendipity Challenge this week is Chalk.

I will admit..it’s been a long time since I’ve used my chalks or chalk pencils. On top of that, I have a bit of bronchitis and the chalk dust really gave me coughing fits, lol. Anyway, I stamped the lovely wine image, masked it and rubbed and scribbled pink and purple chalks over the background, After I removed the mask, I used the chalk and chalk pencils to add color to the image. I then used an eraser to remove color in areas for highlights. Since it’s hard to do really detailed shading with chalk, I had decided in the beginning I would go for an Impressionistic type still life look. The coughing got to be too much with the chalk dust and the colors still didn’t look shaded enough, so I took out my Prismacolor pencils and added more shading. It was starting to look a little better, but I still wasn’t happy with it.

It’s funny where inspiration comes from, but as I was pondering what to do next, I noticed an animated short film on tv. The style was very cartoonish but I started looking at the backgrounds in the scenes. They were very mottled and had these cross hatch markings all over it and I really liked the way they looked. So I took a white Prismacolor pencil and did the scratchy bg on the top. I also used the Ink Spots image to add a little something something along the shaded edges. The framed image was so large, I had no place to put the greeting except over the image, so I added it with the Versafine onyx ink.
