Starry Birthday

Happy Easter!

And a big congrats to Jenn, the newest Featured Stamper (FS477) on Splitcoast! She has such a wonderful, colorful gallery & I chose THIS card to case. I really liked the color combo so I kept that (though mine ended up more purple than violet, lol), but I changed the snowflakes into stars & made my own background since I couldn’t find the dp she used.

To make my background, I sponged the violet ink from the bottom up & the pistachio ink from the top down onto a piece of white card stock. Water drops from a water brush were splattered across the panel to make pale circles. Then I used a dot stencil and a white marker to add whiter dots & I also used a dry marker I touched to the surface of the 2 ink pads to make darker small dots. For the bigger dots I used a pencil eraser touched to the ink pads & also a white pigment ink pad. I also used the tiny star image stamped here & there w/ the violet & pistachio inks.
The finished bg was die cut twice & I turned the larger, outer layer around & put it back around the main panel. Then I added all the die cut & sponged star frames. The greeting was stamped w/ the Versafine purple ink, die cut & the edges sponged.

Here’s a look at the inside. I used the panel I cut the star frames from, sponged it as I did the front.

This is for the Color Challenge (CC557) today on Splitcoast. Originally, I was trying for the “not fussy” dessert option of the challenge. But seriously…trying to do that really started to wear me out, so I gave up & did what I do..mostly fussy. After I stopped trying to reinvent the wheel, this is the result. It’s not too super fussy, just a little bit.

After stamping, coloring w/ Copics & over stamping, I made a little star stencil on copy paper by die cutting two different sized stars in it & sponging the blue ink through it on the background. I die cut it then sponged 3 sides. On the left side, I used a curved die to cut off a little bit & I replaced it w/ some dp, then added some die cut stars on top. I die cut the greeting & a couple of dp circles and pretty much done.

Here’s a look at the inside using some leftovers & below it are the Copics I used.

ODBD August Look Back!

Today we are taking another look at the Our Daily Bread designs August release! Don’t you just LOVE the Boho patterns & fabulous dies? So fun! This is also for today’s Free for All Challenge (F4A287), to use an odd number of stamps…I used 7….the greeting, little flower, 2 butterflies on top & 3 more (different) butterflies on the background.
So in the spirit of fun, my card uses a water color & stenciled background in bright red/orange. I stamped the different butterflies with Versafine randomly over the background then die cut it with the largest die of the Boho Background die. The inner part of the die was used to die cut the black lattice on top. The greeting was stamped on one of the stitched ovals & I stamped one of the little flowers all around & added just a touch of color. The big Boho butterfly was stamped on another section of the water color bg, die cut & I used a white gel pen to add some white dots for a little brightness.

Here’s the inside where I used a cut off strip of the front & some more butterflies.
