What a super color combo for today’s Color Challenge (CC475) on Splitcoast! Love these bright, high contrast colors! The red & orange remind me of poppies, so that’s the direction I went. I spent most of my time fiddling with background…the rest was quick & easy.

On the background, I started by using a large water color brush and a couple of red & orange reinkers. I also splattered a bit using the brush. Then I took a couple of stencils and sponged on some real red thru the stencils. I die cut the poppies & the little squares out of this. The greeting was stamped in a combo of the two blue inks. I don’t have any little enamel dots, but I did find these sort of metallic ones. They weren’t quite blue enough, so I added a little more blue w/ a Copic marker.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Wonderful challenge for the Ways to Use It on Splitcoast (WT465)! The challenge is to Color Something. It just so happens I LOVE to color! So I colored these cute little kids and I also sponged, masked, stenciled, stamped and colored the background and added color to the greeting strip.

For the background, I started with white card stock and sponged on some light purple and light blue inks. I used a sequin waste strip as a stencil and sponged on some darker blue & purple inks in areas. Then I stamped a splatter image here and there with dk blue & also white pigment ink. I did the same with a polka dot image. After stamping the greeting on a trimmed off piece of white, I sponged on some of the same inks diagonally. I turned down one corner of the image, added a button and called my 4.25 x 5.50 card finished. These are the Copics I used for the image.

It’s Dare to Get Dirty week on Splitcoast and I made this for Cindy’s (DTGD13onehappystamper) fabulous challenge! You’ll need to be a Fan Club member to view the challenge, so check it out! Since I took my Copic certification classes from Cindy, I thought I’d better use them for her challenge! For my card, stamped the large sunflowers, colored them w/ Copics and fussy cut them. I added just a hint of sparkle in the flower centers w/ a Spica pen. They’re attached to white die cut layer.

I have 2 tutorials for doing this Monoprint Background…the first was for the Splitcoast Fan Club back in 2099 when I was on the Dirty Dozen team. If you’re aFan Club member, you can view it HERE. The second, is an updated tutorial from June 2013 with a few fun additions and you can view it HERE. This background is part of some I made using a chevron stencil and pigment ink. When I finished one background, I put the stencil (with all the ink still on it), ink side down on another sheet and brayered over it and this is what I got. It’s attached to a chevron embossed white background. The greeting was stamped on a die cut circle and attached to a stacked die cut pennant flag. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25 and these are the Copics I used:
