Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.comI chose a morphed version of embossing resist. Morphed because I also added the twist of bleach. Most of the time I’ll white emboss the image when I’m doing emboss resist, but it just didn’t work very well with this geranium image. So I black embossed it on water color paper. A note about the paper…this isn’t the good stuff…it’s water color paper from the kid’s art supply section. I’ve found when I’m embossing, it does a better job than the good stuff. It’s smoother and not as heavy but it still stands up to water very well. After embossing, I used a combination of techniques. I added color all over w/ a large paint brush, water & some dye reinkers. To make it a little more intense, I also sponged on some extra colors using two Kaleidacolor ink pads. I also splattered a bit here and there then wet it down a bit to soften the splatter. Now for the twist..I took a tiny acrylic paintbrush dipped in bleach and bleached some color back out inside the flowers & leaves. The embossed lines kept the bleach from traveling. If you try this, you must use an acrylic paintbrush…the bleach will totally eat up the natural hair bristles. To further define the image, I added a hint of shadow using a red Copic & a green Copic below the flowers & leaves.

After die cutting the panel, I added a slightly larger, fussy cut black layer. Black die cut elements were added to the corners on the white layer. After matting this on black, I attached it back on top of the original water color bg the image was cut from. The die cut Hello was also shadowed in black.

  • ODBD October New Release!

    Julie Warner - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

Weekly-FavoriteWelcome to the Our Daily Bread designs October Release!

    Julie Warner -https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

For my first card, I used a brayer and a rainbow ink pad for the leaf background. On the small rectangles, I used a small acrylic paintbrush and bleach to remove the background. The individual leaves were stamped, die cut and colored with Copics to match the background. The greeting was stamped directly on the 4.25 x 5.50 card front and the background strips and die cut leaves were added on top. These are the Copics I used for the die cut leaves.

On my second card, I stamped the pumpkin, colored it with Copics and die cut using the matching die. It’s attached to a die cut ivory rectangle then to a larger dk maroon rectangle. The greeting was stamped directly on a lined ochre piece of designer paper. The dotted dp was die cut then cut in half attached to the left side along with a green Fancy Foliage die cut. I also die cut a couple of the leaves out of the two papers. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

  • Happy Sailing!

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

This is a little Sneaky Peek of some fabulous new images to be released on tomorrow morning’s ODBD Release! I made this for the Splitcoast Featured Stamper this week (FS282), Loll Thompson! Congrats to Loll! What a fab gallery! I chose her Sail the Ocean Blue card to case. I kept the ship at sea theme,  the general layout and red, white & blue theme, but I had to change the card format to fit my image and added a couple more layers. I used different images, papers and made a band w/ punched out stars in place of the twine.

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

After stamping the ship image, I sponged on some different blue inks and added just a touch of red to a few areas. The compass rose was stamped on the navy background w/ indigo ink and on the little side pieces of the sentiment w/ fired brick ink.  The horizontal band was assembled with leftover strips and I punched the white band w/ a small star punch. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

I hope you’ll stop back by to view all the fabulous art the team has put together with the gorgeous new sets and you’ll also be eligible to win some fantastic prizes.

    See you tomorrow!
