Congrats to Joy, the newest Featured Stamper on Splitcoast (FS361)! Her gallery is a delight and after browsing for a long time, I chose THIS card to case. I kept the snowy sky and tree theme, but I used different images, slightly different colors and made mine just a winter card instead of a Christmas card.

I stamped the snow tree w/ fence on white, added a hint of color and shadows w/ some very light cool gray and a snow green Copic markers, then cut around the top edge. When I got to the tree, I left only a very small portion of the right side of the trunk. On a larger navy blue piece, I lined up where the tree would be and stamped it again w/ the popcorn white ink. I added a bit more white (for snow) on the tree with a white gel pen. I used a small die cut circle for the moon and stamped just a few of the branches w/ black. The snow was stamped using the splatter background and the popcorn ink. I added a bit of the same splatter bg on the white part using the lt blue ink. The first two lines of the greeting were added in lower left.

Congrats again, Joy, enjoy your week! Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • Happy New Year!

    Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com
A very Happy New Year to you all!

Today’s sketch challenge (SC469) is an interesting one, and I took a couple of liberties with it in order to make my elements work. I laid it down horizontally and my corner element and little circles are all tied together. I hope the sketch is still recognizable 🙂

The snowflake wreath was silver embossed and die cut w/ a large circle. I added a turquoise layer die cut w/ an exquisite circle die behind it then the added the turquoise forstyville border across the bottom. The greeting is only a portion of a larger Christmas greeting. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

  • Christmas Candle & Into the Window mini tutorial

A big Congrats to  Roberta, the newest Featured Stamper (FS359)! She has such a wonderful gallery! I chose THIS beautiful card to case. I kept the large oval and shaving cream background, but I used different image, different colors and made mine a Christmas card.

On my card today, I’m using this really wonderful candle image. I just love it! I thought it would look really nice w/ an opening behind it and the stained glass stamped on top. Logically, the stained glass should show thru the glass of the Hurricane lamp, but y’all will have to overlook that one. It was getting late and that was a bit too much to do. Especially since I already did a special “into the window” treatment. It’s a lot likeout of the box” but it goes into the cut out instead of out of it. After stamping the image, I lightly penciled in the shape of the oval opening I wanted to die cut. Then I cut around the parts that I needed to have on top of the die to keep from cutting them off and I inserted the oval die as shown.

It’s just a rough cut around the candle now…I’ll trim it after I die cut the oval.

This is how it looks with the bottom of the die inserted under the bottom of the image. All ready to die cut now.

Die cutting and embossing all finished! Now I’ll trim it and color the image. The stained glass image was gold embossed on a piece of dk purple shaving cream background I made ages ago. I liked the contrast of the dk purple behind the candle. The greeting was stamped below and my finished card is 4.25 x 5.50. These are the Copics I used to color it.

Congrats again, Roberta! Enjoy your week and Merry Christmas to all! Thanks so much for stopping by!
