Deer in the Forest

Today’s Ways to Use It Challenge (WT580) asks us to plant a tree. So here are a couple of trees along w/ some deer & a bird. If truth be told, this particular tree was planted a while ago & has just been waiting in the wings.

To make my silhouette card, I started w/ some dp that has a faint green pattern around the edges. I stamped the trees, deer, bird & clouds w/ two shades of green Memento & took a dry blender pen to add shading before the ink completely dried. The littlest deer was stamped twice w/ the darker green to appear more in the shadows. The ground was first stamped w/ the image in the cottage green, then parts of it again in the pine. I used the Belles Vignes image to add some vines all around the panel w/ the pear tart ink. Parts of the Find Beauty image were stamped along the ground first w/ the ivy ink, then w/ white ink on top of the dark areas.

A few larger mats were added along w/ the birthday greeting.

Find Beauty

The Color Challenge (CC568) is saffron, gray & sky blue. I was a little hesitant about these colors at first, but they are growing on me.

I started by sponging the two yellow inks from the bottom up then I sponged the blue from the top down. Gray was also sponged from the bottom up for a couple of inches to help ground the image. The sponged piece was placed into my Misti & the first time I stamped it I used the gray flannel but I didn’t think it was quite dark enough so I stamped it again w/ the Versafine. I added a few white highlights and some gray shadows below the silhouette. It was die cut several times w/ a couple of lt blue layers in between & on the bottom. I had the narrow little strip left over so I tacked it close to the left edge & added a die cut butterfly & a couple of mini brads.

Heart Blend

Today’s Color Challenge (CC567) has some pretty colors & the dessert option is a Valentine. Since the colors are strawberry, mint & espresso, I couldn’t get the “espresso” out of my head so coffee was the way I went w/ my card.

I put some X-Press It c/s into my Misti, stamped the coffee cups first w/ Memento, colored w/ Copics then overstamped w/ Versafine & cut them out. I did the same to the little hearts & the greeting. I just happened to already have the crochet looking heart already die cut as well as the white topper w/ the stitched circle cut out. Love it when stuff I have laying around fits in so nicely! I added the mint polka dot dp & pretty much done.

Here’s a look at the inside. I left it blank for now. I’ll add a greeting inside later. Below it are the Copics I used.
