On my first card, I stamped the lovely doily image from Doily Blessings using a combo of the olive & pine inks then added color with Copics. I used the large doily outline die to cut it & added a peach “button” in the center using the smallest die of the set. The backing layers were cut w/ square die then embossed w/ fancy square die. The peach square layer was also stamped w/ the flower image from the Ornate Borders & Flowers images using the rose ink. It’s not really discernible, but adds a nice color variation to the layer. I stamped the flower again on white and stamped the greeting on top using the pine ink before die cutting w/ the matching flower die.

The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used.

For my second card, I die cut the beautiful doily out of some handmade ivory paper I’ve had for a long time. I die cut the center out of the ivory and again out of the dp and added the little flower centers of the navy dp into the ivory version. The dp was cut first with a matting basics die then w/ a curved border die and added on top of more of the handmade ivory paper. The bottom portion that was cut off was turned over (it’s double sided paper) and attached on the bottom. The greeting was stamped in the open section ( I had to mask off part as it wouldn’t fit). The knitting basket & yarn images were stamped, lightly colored w/ Copics and die cut w/ the matching dies.

Today’s Technique Challenge on Splitcoast (TLC495) sounded really interesting…use a stencil and stamp thru it. Well…hmmm…I tried a bunch of my stencils, plastic & brass, but nothing really looked right or recognizable. And I was getting pretty frustrated. Yes, I know I have a low tolerance for irritation. Hubby’s response to my frequent “this is driving me crazy” is “Short Trip.” So I’m pretty sure my finished card wasn’t done exactly like directed, but I like it anyway. And it looks much better than my other attempts. So it is what it is.

As my last resort, I die cut a big circle and used it as a stencil (or mask, if you will) and stamped a couple of silhouette leaf images using the desert heat rainbow pad inside the circle. The die cut clock was added on top. I removed a few of the center parts of the clock because I liked it better w/o them. The little matching section on the left, was a leftover part when I die cut the circle behind the clock and I stamped the leaves again to match then attached it to a black rectangle. I also added another matching strip under the lower edge of the card front. A fishtail flag die was used on the greeting and a couple of Candi dots added in the upper right corner to balance things out.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

A big congrats to Diane, the newest Featured Stamper (FS393) on Splitcoast! She has such a wonderful gallery. After much browsing, I chose THIS card to case. I really liked the strip background and color, so I kept those, but I used different images, added some embossed glitter in the negative strips and a cute little fish.

I cut the turquoise paper in strips like Diane did and stuck them to white card stock covered with adhesive. Then I had this idea that I’d like to cover the white blanks with glitter for a little different look. I also covered the edge of the layered circle with a glitter embossing powder very similar in color, as well as a left over strip that I cut to look like seaweed.  I also covered a Candi dot w/ VersaMark and embossed it w/ the same powder. The cute little fish was colored with Copics and fussy cut. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used for the fish.
