    Lasso the Moon 06719
As a native Texan, I really love this sweet little Cowgirl! Seriously, I want to go put my boots on right now…just need to decide which pair, lol! She is a joy to color and to give her a little something special, I did what I call an “into the window” treatment. A little like out of the box, but it goes the other direction. After stamping & coloring her with Copics, I die cut it first using the larger die, then used a craft knife to cut around the top and sides in order to slip the lower left corner of the smaller die under her.
Below,  you can see that the image was cut on the lines just enough to slip the die under.

    Lasso the Moon1 06704
Below, after die cutting I put the larger die back in place and embossed them both.
    Lasso the Moon2 06705
And below is how it looks finished…all ready to attach.
    Lasso the Moon306706
These are the Copics I used to color her.

I used a leftover frame I colored w/ Copics and a die cut circle w/ the star concho from the Bandana die.

    Supplies:

Stamps: Serendipity Stamps – Cowgirl, Sending Smiles (inside)

Accessories:  Serendipity Howdy & Bandana dies, Spellbinders A2 matting basics A & B, circles dies,  Copic markers, MISTI

My next card has the wonderful Bandana & Poker Chip dies along with the fun new greeting.

    Chips are Down 06725
After die cutting all the pieces, I stamped and colored the greeting and attached them to an embossed background. The poker chips took a little patience to paper piece all those little parts. These are the Copics I used for the greeting.

The inside is just a simple frame I colored to match along with an extra concho from the Bandana die.

    Celebrate Pocket cu 06373
    Weekly-Favorite
A big congrats to Brenda the newest Featured Stamper!  I chose THIS card of hers to case. I kept the pocket w/ insert & birthday theme, but I used different images, different colors & I left off the cute kitty in her picture.

Welcome to the May Challenge for Serendipity Stamps! This month the challenge is My Girl (feminine card)! The Design Team has the added challenge of making either a pocket, special fold card or a gift box. You can get all the details over on the Serendipity Challenge Blog.  We have something new…a “Stamp of the Month”. Each month a different image will be 50% off. This month- it’s the Aprons. Be sure to check out the great deals on the Clearance Stamps, too. And as always, we have a  have a gift certificate up for grabs to a random player.
    Celebrate Pocket 06374
For my project, I made a crossover pocket card. It’s actually only a pocket, as it doesn’t open, with an insert for the greeting. I had this green dp with flowers & glittered centers and I thought it would work well for the front of the pocket. I added a mottled orange dp and borders of the die cut Daisy Border. I used a portion of the Daisy Garden die for the faux belt across the front and added a glitter die cut buckle to finish the belt.
    Celebrate Pocket apart 06379
For the insert, I used a white panel I had die cut and cut the top off in order to add the Celebrate die cut on top. It was die cut once out of polka dot orange dp and 3 times out of heavy white. I attached the orange to one of the white cuts, stacked the other 2 white cuts together and glued them with the top of the insert in between. The cute little Daisy is new and I stamped, colored & fussy cut it. After attaching it, I stamped the Special Day greeting over it and the big Happy Birthday below it. A couple of orange die cut corners to the lower edge. These are the Copics I used on the flower.
    Celebrate Pocket copics 06371
If you’d like the instructions for the pocket, here are the measurements. (Click any pictures to make them larger.) After I cut the green flower print dp, I also cut an orange layer the same size then trimmed them both down to layer on the white card. Another orange piece of dp was added to the inside of the pocket & after these were attached, I added a strip of double sided tape across the lower edge & down the inside of the top right side of the pocket to permanently close it. The insert simply slips inside the pocket.

  • ODBD March Review!

    Eggcellent Easter cu 05835
    Weekly-Favorite
Today we are taking another look at the Our Daily Bread designs March release! Such beautiful images, perfect dies & gorgeous paper for spring & Easter!
    Eggcellent Eastef 05834
For my Easter basket card, I started with a piece of the beautiful Shabby Rose paper. I wanted a tone on tone sort of look so I kept the colors soft. The Victorian velvet ink is a good match for the paper & I only used a couple of Copics to color in my basket. Since generally, Copics & heat embossing don’t go together (the markers tend to “melt” the embossing), I had to go about it a little differently. I could have used water color paper & water based markers, but the texture of w/c paper doesn’t allow for smooth embossing. So here are a couple of pictures showing my work around for this conundrum. (Click to make any picture larger.)
    Eggcellent Easter coloring 05814
First, I stamped the basket w/ the Victorian velvet ink and used the two colors of Copics shown to lightly color it in. It looks pretty good like this…a no line coloring sort of look. But I really wanted it white embossed. So I used a stamp positioner to line it up again, stamped it with white pigment ink and heat embossed with white powder, as shown below.
    Eggcellent Easter embossed 05815
As you can see, the colors go with the paper just perfectly! I fussy cut the basket, stamped some of the eggs w/ the same Distress ink & die cut them with the matching dies. I added a die cut greeting and some white grass in and behind the basket. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25 & here’s a look at the inside.
