Today’s Ways to Use It Challenge (WT494) is Chalkboard..either make one, use one or use a chalkboard technique. I chose the latter. A chalkboard seems perfect for a graduation card. I white embossed the the greeting, mortarboard & long tassel on a die cut piece of black c/s then lightly sponged on a bit of the white ink to create the chalkboard look. The Grad letters were die cut out of black & white and spliced together. The white bg was embossed w/ a wood grain folder.

This is a CAS (clean & simple) card for the Color Challenge (CC493) today on Splitcoast. I don’t have the exact colors, but I came pretty close using Distress inks. I masked the edges of a white panel and sponged on the inks. Then I used a stencil, sponged thru it to add a bit more interest. The image & greeting were stamped on top along with some dots across the bottom using an ink spot image.I added a few highlights on the colored part of the image w/ a white gel pen and white Prismacolor pencil. It was die cut w/ matting die and the leftover piece was sponged and added back around the main panel.
I even went for the dessert option of the challenge…recycle something 🙂 My little leaf was stamped w/ Stazon onto a piece of plastic packaging and colored on the back side w/ Copics, cut out then heated a little in order to curl it a bit.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Congrats to Christyne, the newest Featured Stamper (FS394) on Splitcoast! She has a super gallery with lots of beautiful creations! I chose THIS card to case. I used a similar layout & colors, but I used different images, left off the ribbons & distressing and used fewer layers.
The anchor image was stamped with the chipped sapphire, die cut, edged w/ navy marker and attached to a white layer. The lighthouse was stamped with white onto a navy panel (it’s really navy IRL, don’t know why it looks royal blue in the pic), edged w/ a white marker and attached to a larger navy panel. I stamped the little anchor on a red ticking stripe dp and die cut it along w/ the greeting using a pennant die. I added a couple of red Candi dots in the lower right to balance it a bit.
Congrats again, Christyne! Thanks so much for looking!
