Fun challenge on Splitcoast today! Make your own backgrounds (F4A85)!

The weekend is almost here and some of you are probably planning on a friendly golf game. The only golf I’ve ever played is miniature, but there are a lot of golfers in my family. So I think this would be the perfect masculine birthday card for one of them. All except my aunt Mary, that it is, lol. She LOVES to play golf. You could use it for other occasions, but I used the Above Par Birthday Greeting on the inside.

This golfer reminds me a little of my husband. A long time ago, in a city far, far way,  we lived in a partially finished subdivision and he was out in front practicing his swing. He used to hit balls across the several unfinished streets and pay neighbor kids to shag the balls. So he’s out there one day and my daughter and I are on the couch in the living room. All of a sudden, there is a big CRASH, my glasses fly off my face and this golf ball lands about 3 inches in front of the tv. I wish I had a picture of the look on his face. When he shanked that ball, it hit the curb across the street and bounced back through the front window of our house. I guess if he had hit it any harder, he’d have hit two birds w/ one ball. Me and the tv, lol.

All images are DRS Designs. For my self made backgrounds, I used a little stack of pigment inks that comes in coordinating colors to stamp the Golf word repeatedly. I also used it to make the narrow woven plaid strip. Golfer Duff was colored with markers and given a little out of the box treatment. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.5.

    Thanks so much for looking!

Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/Congrats to Tami, today’s Featured Stamper (FS228) at Splitcoast! Super gallery! I chose Thank You to case. I liked the stark color contrast and thought it would work well for my Father’s Day card. Then I changed most everything. I was also inspired by this card I saw a long time ago. I got my stuff out yesterday to make it but then we had storms and the power went out for a really long time. So I had to quick make it this morning.

All images are Our Daily Bread designs. I pretty much followed the same suit layout on my 6″ square card. I used the crochet bg w/ the silver ink on the ivory shimmer paper and made the shirt and pocket handkerchief. The watch was stamped w/ stazon onto white shrink plastic and since it was a large image to start with, it shrank to the perfect size. I found this little watch crystal looking doodad and glued it on top w/ super glue then attached it to a silver die cut round tag. I used a scallop die on both sides of a scrap to get the watch chain then used the silver pen to draw in the links.

The suit was all faux stitched w/ the silver pen and a silver button was added. I added the little verse (it’s for DH) to the side on the pocket.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Fun challenge  Holly has today at Splitcoast (TLC329).  I had a great time putting together my little crazy quilt. I almost got out the sewing machine then thought, nah…. pen is right here! So my little patchwork is faux stitched.

All images are Our Daily Bread designs. The big clock image and blue layer were cut w/ a Spellbinders circles. For the left two panels, I scribbled some markers inside the embossing folder before embossing. The middle section has the same phrase stamped in several different colors. The little right panels are dp aged slightly w/ ink.

I attached all my little patchwork pieces to longer panels of blue then faux stitched them down. The sentiment was split to fit the space and I added some little punched circles for faux button like elements.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
