    Best of 2012 -SPLITCOASTSTAMPERS!

For my winter card, I used this wonderful Tree Branch and stamped it with indigo ink on the slate blue c/s. I shaded it just a bit using Tombow markers and added snow with a white gel pen. The two sizes of Flurry snowflakes were stamped in indigo and also denim inks. I added a few of the smaller flakes stamped and embossed with white embossing powder. More highlights were added with the white gel pen and the centers dotted with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen.

The greeting was also white embossed on a gold flecked navy piece of c/s. I attached it on top of a sentiment frame and colored in the dots. The finished card is 6.50 x 5.00.

Just for fun, I thought I’d show you my color inspiration for this challenge. I had this snowflake dp and while I was hunting for c/s to go with it, I found this Martha Stewart paint chip in my stash and those are the colors I used. This is a page in my little 9.5 x 7 notebook.  I keep little leftover paper and ribbon swatches and bare bones notes on the card. It helps me remember what I did and what I used. I don’t know how many of these I’ve gone through, but they’ve really come in handy plenty of times and I don’t have to guess what I used.

  • Birthday Tea

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

What a terrific Free For All (F4A98) challenge! Quite a laundry list of items and I hope I included them all. This is also for yesterday’s WT challenge (WT365), a birthday card.

Let’s see…we were to use a die cut – my teapot and tea bag are die cuts, the partial doily is a die cut. A 3D flower- my flower is a spiral blossom die cut that I inked and rolled up. Pearls- I used three little silver pearls in the upper left corner. Embossing folder- well, I used a texture thingie of sorts. I used a piece of plastic canvas mesh in the embossing machine to add the texture to the teapot and the burgundy layer behind the greeting. (Greeting is Our Daily Bread designs). And designer paper- I used it for the teapot and the background layer.

For my card, I’m using the new Birthday Blessings set. Isn’t this a wonderful tea cup full of flowers? I colored it w/ markers and added a little iridescent watercolor medium on top for a little sparkle. I used the out of the box Nestie technique to cut it out.  The purple background was run through the Grand Calibur with an embossing folder. The ivory/yellow panel was stamped with pigment ink using one of my favorite past releases, Crocheted Background. A little strip of the Crochet Border from Serve the Lord was added under the olive green panel. A matching Crochet circle was stamped and die cut using the matching dies. I used the first part of the sentiment for my little tags and the complete sentiment from the set is on the inside. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

From here, hop to the fantastic Betty Wright’s blog!
