Fun challenge on Splitcoast today! Make your own backgrounds (F4A85)!

The weekend is almost here and some of you are probably planning on a friendly golf game. The only golf I’ve ever played is miniature, but there are a lot of golfers in my family. So I think this would be the perfect masculine birthday card for one of them. All except my aunt Mary, that it is, lol. She LOVES to play golf. You could use it for other occasions, but I used the Above Par Birthday Greeting on the inside.

This golfer reminds me a little of my husband. A long time ago, in a city far, far way,  we lived in a partially finished subdivision and he was out in front practicing his swing. He used to hit balls across the several unfinished streets and pay neighbor kids to shag the balls. So he’s out there one day and my daughter and I are on the couch in the living room. All of a sudden, there is a big CRASH, my glasses fly off my face and this golf ball lands about 3 inches in front of the tv. I wish I had a picture of the look on his face. When he shanked that ball, it hit the curb across the street and bounced back through the front window of our house. I guess if he had hit it any harder, he’d have hit two birds w/ one ball. Me and the tv, lol.

All images are DRS Designs. For my self made backgrounds, I used a little stack of pigment inks that comes in coordinating colors to stamp the Golf word repeatedly. I also used it to make the narrow woven plaid strip. Golfer Duff was colored with markers and given a little out of the box treatment. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.5.

    Thanks so much for looking!

  • Pumpkins?

I have a special post over on the ODBD Blog today with a mini tutorial on how to create these cute little pumpkins. And here it is on my blog.

Fall is almost here! I have a little project for you today involving pumpkins. You know it’s fall when you see pumpkins on display! I also have pumpkin card to show you, made with the fabulous new ODBD pumpkin image and matching custom die. I had the idea of making the little accordion pumpkins but I started to use a circle or scallop circle die. Luckily, I had just received the brand new Spellbinders 2011 Heirloom Ornament dies and I thought if I trimmed the pointy bottom, the shape really looked like a pumpkin.

Here’s a little closer view of the pumpkins. I used the two middle size dies for these pumpkins. These are pretty easy; just follow the instructions on the pics. Remember, just click on each pic to enlarge. On the two little ones, I stamped the Vintage Border Background with Memento Rhubarb Stalk before I glued the sections together. The leaves were punched and I put a little glue on the stem and stuck them between the sections before I glued them together.

I sponged on a little dk green ink on the tops of the pumpkins in order to more resemble a stem. You could glue together the final 2 sections if you want them to remain permanently open, but it’s not necessary. And if you want to mail them, just fold them closed and put a little paper clip on them.

These recipe cards were in the dollar bin at my local craft store along with the Seeds tin. I added some stamping on the recipe cards and cut out the pot w/ tools and the little pumpkins from the Garden Tag Set, and attached them on the upper right corners. The recipe cards just fit inside the tin. Add a few packets of seeds, and you have a nice little fall gift set for someone special!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Best of 2011Wonderful color combo today w/ the color challenge (CC340) at Splitcoast! I hope mine come close enough. I don’t have the actual colors, but IRL this dp comes pretty close and I added a little of peach on the stem and leaves.

All images are Our Daily Bread designs. I stamped the pumpkin twice on the red/orange dp and once on the aqua dp, die cut them w/ the matching ODBD custom die and pieced them together. I used two sizes of the Spellbinders labels 4 to cut out the center of the frames in the aqua dp and textured gray.

The greeting was stamped inside the frames on the aqua c/s and everything attached to a 5.5 x 4.25 card.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
