• ODBD July Release Blog Hop!

Welcome to the ODBD July Release Blog Hop! We have been having fun playing with these sets and I know you will too! If you arrived here from Sandee’s blog, then you’re in the right place. If not, you may want to jump over to the ODBD Blog and start from there.

Since it’s the Independence Day holiday weekend here in the USA,  we’re going to keep the hop real simple! There are no secret words to collect, no email to send to me… just a fun blog hop!

Here’s the fun part! There are THREE prizes of WINNER’S CHOICE ONE FREE SET, but they are hidden on three different designer’s blogs! You won’t know who has the prizes!

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/

For my card, I’m using two of the new sets, Our Daily Bread and The Living Bread. This is one of those cards that hardly resembles the idea I started with this morning. I woke up with a clear picture of the card I wanted. Maybe I’ll get to that one another day since this definitely isn’t it, lol.

The wheat cross was stamped with a combination of lt brown and palm leaf inks then the verse was stamped with evergreen pigment ink. It’s attached to a slightly larger green panel and both have the edges rounded. The punched tan layer has the edges sponged.  Remember those hand held ribbon punches? I remembered I have one but it took me a while to find it. When I did,  I used it on a leftover strip of the dp and inserted a narrow chocolate satin ribbon through the slits. Just for fun, I twisted the ribbon before attaching it. The final card measures 4.25 x 5.5 (A2).

The Blog Hop will run from 8am Eastern on Thursday, July 1 through 8pm Eastern Friday July 2. At that time the three designers with the prizes will randomly select their winner from their commenters. They will check this post to be sure the person they draw has left their comment here, stating that they have completed the hop…. and then they will give me the name and the winners will be announced on Sat. the 3rd on the ODBD Blog!

The next stop is Randi’s Blog. I know she’ll have something fabulous to share!

Thanks so much for stopping by and good luck!

Ever find yourself in awe of Butterflies?

Take Flight, is just mesmerizing, it was designed to give your project or card a 3D effect! We were encouraged by Betsy to use the wooden-frame from ISC Fruitful sheet or create our own on the design below.

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/

Isn’t this a beautiful image? I love the tree trunk with all the butterflies and it fits so perfectly inside the frame. After stamping the image, I colored it with a combination of reinkers and markers. I stamped the butterflies again, colored them, cut them out and attached them on top of the originals with foam tape under one wing for a little lift. The frame was done on a separate piece of c/s, colored the same way and cut out. I wanted the picture to be a little recessed so I  made two more card board frames, cut them out and attached my frame on top.

For the teal half layer, I stamped it with the Canvas Background and the calypso ink. For the lt green layer, I used a cuttlebug folder first, then stamped Little Specks background with leaf ink. Since it was already embossed, the image is mostly on the raised portions only. After cutting out the sentiment with an oval die, I attached it to two pieces I cut using one element of the Symbology 1 die. I used markers to edge all the layers.

What are your Favorite Flowers? Daisies, Poppy or Sunflowers?

This line has a lovely Spanish script, which would add a lovely accent as a background on any card, etc. The flowers on this sheet; Favorite Flowers are bold and simply lovely! The words are quite large. This line lends itself for lovely cards for that special person or friend in your life!

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/

For my card,  I stamped the Spanish script with black ink on white card stock. On a piece of water color paper, I stamped the script using resist ink and heat set it. I used a mister to wet the paper and floated in various colors of dye reinkers. I was hoping for more resist with the script, but it absorbed some of the inks and ended up looking more like faint stripes. When it dried, I black embossed the flowers on it and cut them out. I used a large corner rounder on all the layers.

I had a piece of drywall mesh sitting on my work table so I placed it over a small piece of white card stock and sponged on ink from two different Kpads.  After removing the mesh, I black embossed the greeting and cut it out with a Spellbinders oval die.
