Snowman Sparkle

I have an easy to make Christmas card today, featuring a super cute snowman and 2 different printed paper backgrounds. The very sparkly gold accents are actually wrapping paper adhered to card stock. This is an easy layout to swap out for any image, color or paper you want to use.

A big congrats to Chris, the newest Featured Stamper (FS917)! She has a wonderful gallery & I chose THIS card to case. I kept the layout & split designer paper background, but I used different images, dies & papers. I already had the snowman colored & die cut, so I picked 2 patterns from the Snowflake Fun paper pack that went w/ him. Turns out, I only needed 1 sheet because the top pattern is actually the reverse side of the green snowflake paper. I used a stitched rectangle to cut the entire front, cut the top third & flipped it over. Where the come together is covered by the gold glitter strip. That glitter strip is actually very sparkly wrapping paper that I adhered to card stock to make it easy to cut. I also cut a couple of snowflakes out of it.

I used the long narrow die from the Impossible Fold die set to cut the glitter band going across the card front. The greeting was stamped on a small tag die.

These are the Copics I used. I colored this snowman when I did the others on this card below, but didn’t use him then.

Snowmen Train

Today I have a fun, lighthearted Christmas card featuring a pair of happy snowmen riding a Christmas train. The red backdrop is set off with white snowflakes and the puffy snow & clouds are highlighted with sparkly glitter.

It’s my turn to host the Inspiration Challenge (IC974) & we are visiting Discount Mags & their Pinterest Board. I chose THIS magazine cover for my inspiration.

After die cutting the red background, I used a large blending brush to add more red ink to it, making it a little darker on the left side & a richer red on the right. The snowflakes were stamped w/ white ink & I used a white gel pen to add the dots. The snowmen were colored & die cut w/ their matching dies. I also die cut a large green tree & several white cloud banks. Only the largest car of the train set was used & I added the snow on top by die cutting the snow from the Winter Village set & attaching it on top. The train & tree were added between 2 cloud banks & a third was added across the top w/ the greeting stamped on it. A little stickles was added on top of the snow for sparkle.

The snowmen & train cars were popped up just a bit. Here are the Copics I used:

Most Wonderful Snowmen

A Christmas, winter card using the most adorable set of snowmen! Behind the window, is some wonderful lt blue snowflake paper and I’ll show you how i used a regular rectangle to make the long window cut out. It’s a great way to stretch the use of dies you already have.

A big congrats to Diane, the newest Featured Stamper (FS912)! She has a big, beautiful gallery & I chose THIS card to case. I kept the layout & snowmen but I used different images, dies & papers and cut out a long window behind instead of adding a layer w/ the snowmen on top.

After coloring & die cutting the snowmen w/ their coordinating dies, I die cut a large white panel w/ the 2nd largest sm. scallop rectangle. Then I used an even smaller sized scallop rectangle & resized it to make it about half again longer. I also die cut 2 of the snowflake borders, put one across the top of the window & one under the bottom edge of the window. After dry fitting my snowmen to determine placement of the greeting, I stamped it in the center. A large lt blue snowflake paper was cut w/ a rectangle w/ sm scallop & holes die to place behind the white panel. Then I attached everything together & popped up the 2 large snowman just a bit before attaching them.

Here are the step out pictures of how i extended the length of the small rectangle for the window. (click on any picture to make it larger.) Note: my top plate is one meant for a Sizzix Jr. It allows me to cut precise areas. The machine I’m using is a Big Shot & the bottom plate is a normal size.
